Zeiss = not always great

This review is from: Zeiss 8x20 B Design Selection Monocular USA (Electronics) I thought this would be my "be all end all" monocular, and it seemed to have a lot going for it; light weight, nice objective size, alleged Zeiss quality, etc., but what a disappointment. The optics are not great. Chromatic abberations are reasonably well corrected, but the image suffers from softness at the edge of the field and is not terribly impressive. IMHO, it is nowhere near what I would ...

The very best, move over James Bond.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Zeiss 8x20 B Design Selection Monocular USA (Electronics) I bought this wonderful monocular for a man who doesn't appreciate it. What a waste. It's fantastic. Maybe I'll wait til he's forgotten about it and run off with it.

The Weakness

I owned a Zeiss 8X monocular. The optics were, of course, superb, couldn't have been happier. But, the past tense is there because it "went to the wild". The lanyard neck loop attachment to the monocular was of poor quality on my unit. I know where it is, somewhere in an area about a quarter mile wide by a half mile long, on a rocky hillside. I owned it for about three years.
