Not another throw away NV device

I was looking for an inexpensive NV device but without the delicacy of the old fashioned tube types, and I found it. I believe the technology is based on the Sony night vision found on camcorders, but the camcorders are very limited in range in comparison. The 820 foot spec. is underspecified. I was able to spot an observation target in complete darkness (without a moon) over 300 yards away without the use of the booster IR beam. When I did turn on the booster beam, it lit up too bright, and I...

LOVE IT! Just what I was looking for.

Worked right out of the box... I had the AA batteries ready to drop in. Has lots of included accessories and options! You just need to buy batteries. You can also plug it into the lighter/cargo plug in the car or use an a/c outlet in the house, as well. No need to worry about messing up the optics by exposing it to light.. since it uses a ccd. No need for special batteries, just 6 double AAs. Also, an extra battery holder that you can pre-load just in case you need to put fresh batteries i...

Yukon's night Vision Monocular- AWESOME

I've been using the monocular to view animals and whatnot during the more limited hours of light. As well I've used it quite a bit for looking at the stars and other normally unseeable objects in the night sky. All I can say is this device is exceptional. It will do everything adverstised and move. Highly recommend this item if you are planning on any nocturnal viewing type activities.

Great item, but not for wildlife

Field of view so narrow that it's not really useful for night wildlife viewing of anything that is mobile or for searching (I was trying to use it for night birds). The focus changes too much with depth. I do think that it is very cool; for perimeter security or following large animals who do not move much, it would probably be great. A few notes: it blinds you it is so bright, even with the brightness turned down. Because both pupils constrict when one is exposed, you will lose any semblance of...

Yukon Digital Ranger is outstanding!

I use it for stargazing and ufo hunting. Very easy to handle and operate. Image can be adjusted for brightness... really sharp imaging. Amazing detail in the sky! The infrared beam is very powerful. Has the video out so you can record what you see!

Very Satisfied

We purchased this monocular hoping to see some of the nocturnal wildlife around our home. After purchasing, then returning a Gen 1 monocular, we did a lot of research and were happy to find this digital model at a good price. Overall we are very satisfied with the image quality. We tried it on a tripod connected to our television and were really surprised at how good the image is. The only downside is that you really cannot use it at night through a window, as others have stated, because of ...

Bought this for my husband's Birthday

Bought this for my husband to watch wildlife in our back woods to protect our dogs and chickens. After much research into night vision equipment, options and pricing, I chose the Digital Ranger 5x42 Night Vision Monocular for it's versatility, range and clarity at a price point that was in line for our usage. B&H had the best pricing around and having had previous experience with them on a Digital camera purchase had absolutely no qualms about buying online. My husband was thrilled with his pre...

Very good value for general purposes

Used to view surroundings when doing night sky photography, out in the middle of nowhere (when noises are going bump in the night)!

Stated new... looked used.

This review is from: Yukon YK28041 Digital Ranger 5 x 42 Night Vision Monocular (Electronics) I ordered this item and when I got it did not have a manual nor a rear lense-cap cover. Plus the way it was in the box looked like it was used (one of the front lense-cap was on the yukon and inside the travel case provided and the other lense-cap was off and outside of the travel case in the box).Did not even turn it on to see if worked... boxed it right back up and sent it...
