YSP-4100

The YSP-4100 was my second choice. I was originally looking at a B&W Panorama sound bar for about $1000 more. A friend finally convinced me that the Yamaha was the buy for the price point. He was right. The B&W didn't support 3-D sound, which the Yamaha does. With the optional sub-woofer, it's a phenomenal sounding 5:1 system. I couldn't be happier.

Amazing sound from one device.

I got a 42" LG5400 for our room. With three kids the husband wanted to be able to sneak away and watch the game while the kids watch cartoons. Somehow being stuck with the small (black and white) college TV set seemed unfair. When it finally broke we upgraded.Instead of buying speakers I looked at a soundbar. I wanted to have great sound without worring about the wires or the kids moving or grabing speakers placed around the room. My friend is an audiophile and he had the 4100 t...

Fantastic Sound Bar

The B&W Panorama sound bar was my first choice but pricey at $2300. A friend of mine who manages an high-end audio store and familiar with both the B&W and Yamaha lines suggested I look at the Yamaha 4100 specifically. It had more features and was almost $700 less. I took his suggestion and have been extremely happy with the YSP-4100. After upgrading the 4100's firmware to the latest version 7.0.3, 3D HDMI pass thru from my Samsung 3D Blu-Ray to Samsung 3D TV also worked properly.

What a deal on Sound

I just received the YSP 4100 from our dealer (had to order it in) it was installed on our new home theater room and the set up was incredibly easy. Upgrade the firmware. Plug it in, put in the YPAO microphone, press set up and walk out of the room. The sound bar did the rest. I have a full 7.1 Yamaha sound system in my game room and honestly, If YOU can tell a difference in sound quality, you are simply too picky. The sound bar is perfect for a home theatre room without all the cables (that wa...

Do not buy the yamaha 4100. Buy a clock radio instead

Guys. I hate to be mean but the 4100 is absolutely the worst piece of equipment I have ever bought. Extremely disappointed. I compare this to a 3-400 $ piece, unfortunately was duped into a much much higher spend. I have spent lots on Rotel, Vandersteen, Adcom, .... proper, valid and viable manufacturers building great product for the dollar. The 4100 sounds like crap and yes Yamaha I paid for a certified installer to configure the same. I compare the sound to a clock radio, prob...

Does what I want, but a bit pricey

I bought this to replace a 2.0 audio setup for a 37" LCD TV that is placed in a very irregularly shaped room. I added my own non-Yamaha subwoofer, as this unit doesn't provide deep low end and the Yamaha subs were under-powered for the room I'm in. I knew ahead of time that without a sensible room shape, I wouldn't get close to "real" surround sound, but what I do get is a very deep and detailed, wide sound stage. In the room I'm in, the full 7.1 setup doesn't work well, becaus...

YSP 4100

Purchased to accompany new tv and avoid hassle of installing multiple speakers. Setup was easy and calibration process improved performance. Used an existing powered subwoofer from Polk system with the included SWK W10 wireless subwoofer kit. Cable and DVD sound quality was only adequate. Sound would be inadequate without the subwoofer. Surround sound performance was definitely not on a par with a much less costly 6 speaker system. The product packaging was sub par and the first unit arrived dam...

outstanding

The Yamaha YSp-4100BL is everything that it's review claimed it is. Far superior to the other less expensive competitive sound bar models in construction and performance. In this case, "You get what you pay for!".

Real Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound

I recently purchased the YSP-4100 from another vendor for $1,159 plus $41 for shipping and no sales tax; by far less than anywhere else. If it had been $1,699 or manufacturer's list of $1,899, I would not have been able to swing it budget wise although I think it is worth it. I had been looking at the 2200 and 3300 models for around the same price or less but I really wanted the 42 speakers versus the 18 speakers of the lower end models. I was also fortunate that I had an old Yamaha 5.1 syste...

GREAT SOUNDBAR

I was skeptical about the quality of the sound as I was trying to achieve a high degree of surround sound without the investment in a high end A/V receiver and multiple speakers. The YSP-4100 has it all! The directional sound is fantastic. The installation was easy even though the directions take a bit of comprehension to get through. I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants full sound without the cost and trouble that home theater systems present.
