Previous receivers/amps were Sony ES, Adcom, and Denon. After quite a bit of research, I narrowed down the selection to the Denon 4311, Marantz SR7005, and the Yamaha 3010. There were no reviews of the 3010, but the 3000 reviews were excellent and the Yamaha music gear I used worked well, so I purchased the 3010. I tested all the features I need and everything meets or exceeds my expectations. Sound is excellent. Yamaha's calibration system is fast and works great: a significant improvement in a...

My philosophy in buying a receiver 15 years ago was the same as it was today, go for the best you can find with the most power and flexibility so it can keep pace with technology and time. Certainly for 15 years my old receiver did just that so it was a real heart-felt moment when it died and needed replacement recently.I went to a variety of stores and did my homework and decided to go with this model from Yamaha for the aforementioned reasons as well as the reputation of Yamaha for very accura...

I'm fairly selective and typically spend a lot of time researching before I purchase something. My decision to purchase the Yamaha RX-A3010 was no different. This Yamaha beat out Onkyo and Denon based on my criteria, and I was pretty excited about setting it all up.That's when the trouble started.Setup was fairly painless, but I did take my time as I was trying to keep all the cabling in some semblance of order. When I was finally done, I turned it on, only to find out the front panel display...

This is my second Yamaha receiver in 12 years. If it wasn't for HDMI and 11.2 audio, etc. I would still be using my Yamaha DSP-A1. Truly amazing receiver which the RX-A3010 surpasses by orders of magnitude. Others have reviewed this receiver and I agree with all the accolades and sound quality so I won't repeat it here. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because their deceptive advertising regarding the alleged DLNA 1.5 compatibility. It does not work for anything other than music via DL...

Update: December 4th - adding some web and iPhone screen shots (see above in pictures) to ensure that you have ample information before making decision from user interface front as well.Orig Review-----------Please don't take me wrong when I say affordable price, I was just comparing the Yamaha Z11 at $5K price point to RX-A3010 at less than half the cost with added features and/or upgraded technology. Price or the affordability is a point of reference based on passion, need and things you sacri...

This is a great receiver, but you can get the Rx 3000 for half price and buy a 2 channel amp for 90 bucks from Amazon and will have full control of 9.2. So u get 5 more watts, please!! do not jump the gun, I have installed both and there is no difference what so ever. Buy the 3000 and get the 90 buck external amp which is easier to control without going to the set up menu.Save your self tons

great high-end unit for the pure audiophile

When you get to receivers at this end of the pricing spectrum, the difference between brands and models should be specific and precise. Unlike with autos and other products that rely too heavily on advertising, these a/v receivers should clearly show how they differenciate in their covering of the wide a/v spectrum. This yamaha clearly does that and then some. The attention to detail in the construction of the internals is readily apparant to anyone with just a passing knowledge of amp construct...

I recently purchased a Monitor Audio Silver Series 5.0 setup consisting of one pair of RX8 as front, RXCenter & RXFX for surrounds. I do not have a sub at this point so I can not comment on the LFE channel performance. I was on a quest to find the best sounding AVR, regardless of features, for my setup and I tried the following recievers with a max budget of $1250:Marantz SR7005 ($1699 retail)Marantz SR6007 ($1199 retail; not a flagship model)Pioneer SC-57 ($1999 retail)Yamaha RX-A3010 ($1899 ...

I have owned several Yamaha receivers going back many years. My latest was the RX-V1, purchased about 10 years ago, but she finally bit the dust -- too expensive to repair and her technology too old to compete...hence, time to upgrade. I like buying Top-of-the-Line gear because one usually gets his money's worth. So, if the RX-A3010 is truly Yamaha's finest, then at least provide me with a printed Owner's Manual...the lack of one really gripes me. No matter how you slice it, this is a very compl...

Powerful; Transparent; Super Easy Set-Up

Needing a replacement for the flagship receiver from another manufacturer, which was stuck in HDMI-1.0 land despite the manufacturer's promise that it was an upgradeable receiver, I did my research (and had already foresworn anything from the prior manufacturer, given the unkept promise of the prior receiver and it's hefty price).I decided on Yamaha's flagship, which has more recent technical specs, and the same power specs, for less than half the price of the previous receiver. As it turns out, ...
