Simply Amazing - Brings my old-school TV into the 21st century!

This is an awesome unit. Crutchfield advisor recommended this unit as being the lowest-priced received to receive HD broadcasts but I found out after the purchase that the RX-A800 would also do this (at less than half the price!). Still, it works fantastic and will replace my trusty Sony 5.1 system I bought 11 years ago. This unit is built like a tank (and weighs about at much), scales all input video to 1080i (the most my old, trusty Mitsubishi WS-55805 rear-projection TV can handle)...

Great receiver but has some limitations.

Overall I like this receiver. The on screen display is great. The sounds is awesome. Noise Interference

I recently purchased this receiver and it is less than a week old at this point. All appeared well till I ran into an issue this morning. It is specific to the USB port. I tried 3 difference iPhones and plenty of cables I had but none of them helped. The issue is essentially that when I play music through the USB port, I constantly hear some noise (sort of an interference). It is more obvious in softer music than with metal and heavy metal but regardless, the noise is there and is consistent. Th...

Stellar for my minimalist needs

The Yamaha RX-A1020 has tons of cool network/ipad/music/zone/radio/file playing features, most of which I don't care about or use at all. My basic needs were:1. Being able to comfortably run 6 ohm speakers in a 5.1 configuration2. Having excellent sound quality for both movies and music3. Rock solid build quality4. Having at least 6 HDMI inputs5. Being as future-proof as possible so I won't have to upgrade any time soonSo, let's look at each item and see how it did:1. Runs 4, 6, or 8 ohm speaker...

1 month with unit

Wow, great selection of inputs for just about anything you want to hook up. Only input missing is that front panel should have a port for connecting your mobile device headphone out to the unit. Remote is not simple to use; takes practice to learn it. I seem to be unable (on certain dvds) to change the decoder for different methods. Solved the remote issue by using Harmony One remote. My center channel volume was not right, so I changed it out for a new one (Mark Logan 6 and 2 Mark Logan...

Delighted

One thing not mentioned in other reviews is the outstanding warranty that comes with this unit, THREE FULL YEARS parts and labor. Inside it is built like a piece of lab test equipment, very solid, well organized, plenty of heat sinks.Besides Android and iOS apps to control this baby, it has a built-in web server. You can check the IP address that it has received from DHCP, plug it in to any browser on your home network, and have lovely control - select inputs, DSP modes, adjust vol...

OUTSTANDING

20 years ago I was a High End Home stereo salesman. I would say I am experienced at the least. I have had 2 Onkyos over the last 10 years. I thought they sounded good, maybe not great. My last txsr707 was a piece of garbage. It lasted 3 years and got so hot you could literally cook an egg on it. BiAmping did not make any difference, the sound was always dull. I searched reviews everywhere for months before I pulled the trigger on this.So where to start? My system is the Yamah...

First RX-A1010 Review

Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A1010 Review. From the beginning I knew this AV Receiver would be nothing less than top of the line Yamaha quality. I have learned to expect this from Yamaha products. This receiver replaced my Yamaha RX-V463, which I have enjoyed for several years. The RX-A1010 arrived in a beefy shipping box. Caution: this unit is not light weight. Upon opening the box, it was evident that the quality started with the packaging. Everything was wrapped and securely locked in place. The unit loo...

Awesome receiver!

This is the best receiver I've owned. It replaced my Yamaha RX-V863. It's rich in features and has a clean sound with punch. You can set 2 different sound patterns which means you can assign different levels for each speaker. You can then assign the pattern to each scene that you create. For instance, I created a scene for CD listening. I set my subwoofer level at a higher setting for this, so I created a pattern with a higher level for my subwoofer. Now all I have to do is select my scen...

RX-A1010 7.2-Channel A/V Receiver

I couldn't be happier with this new receiver. I am an average user. I pipe sound into two separate zones and plan to pipe video into two zones. The Yamaha receiver fits my needs. I highly recommend it.
