Great! Unless you're using Zone 2

After reading several glowing reviews and seeing the Apple TV offered free with this unit, I ordered it and received it from UPS looking like it had just survived WWIII. I've always respected Yamaha for it's reputation for durability and after surviving everything UPS could dish out, it's apparently well-deserved. Everything seemed fine after I hooked it up, but I'd recommend against having it shipped with the UPS gorillas. The Apple TV arrived the same day, and I was so excited I took the ne...

What a difference a few years make

I purchased a Yamaha DSP-A1 about 6 years ago and was real happy with it until the display stopped working and the cost to fix it was more than replacing it with a more economical receiver. So, after some research, I decided to stay with Yamaha and go with the RX-V671BL. The comparison of the 2 is like comparing apples and elephants and here's why:1) The RX-V671 is half the size.2) Because the RX-V671 has HDMI connections, I was able to eliminate many of the cables I needed making for an eas...

The best receiver ever

I bought this receiver after reading obout it on the reviews. I was so amazed by what other people were saying about this product. I have hooked it with Kef C serries speakers and the sound is cristal clear. I like the music streaming functionality whereby I am able to play my music from the laptop wirelessly. The reciever is hooked to the router via the network cable and the laptop connects to the receiver via the router wirelessly. The music comes out very clear and can be played through 7.1 s...

Just a Great Receiver. Period.

I purchased this receiver back in June, it is now July 23rd, so I have had about a month to assess things. My conclusion? This is a terrific purchase! It looks great, the sound is truly wonderful, and the setup is incredibly easy. The automatic level setup process is a breeze and does well overall to get all of the speaker levels balanced within the room but, I did find that just a little bit of sound-level tweaking after that, particularly with the center channel, got the levels just right for ...

Perfect for audio enthusiast

After reading a number of good and fairly good reviews, I decided to pick one of these up to replace my older Yamaha receiver. My other one had served me very well but it was time to move up to HDMI.My criteria for a new receiver were the following:- Ability to take all my input devices: PS3, XBOX360, XBOX, DVD Player- One HDMI connection to the TV to avoid having to change TV's input back/forth- At least a 5.1 system, with ability to go up to 7.1- Ability to watch the inputs with the Receiver ...

If Zone2 is decision criteria for you - beware!!!!

While I am impressed with this product (I bought it after success with another Yamaha receiver I have in another room), I specifically picked this unit because of the Zone2 support; however as I tried to listen to the ball game in Zone2 I found I couldn't as my input is an HDMI cable and HDMI inputs can't be played in Zone2. As the user manual states on page 69 "Only analog signals (including radio, USB and network sources) can be output to Zone2. To listen to playback sounds of an external devi...

Fantastic receiver

I bought this receiver recently after trying Yamaha v667 and Denon 2311CI. This one simply blew the other two away... particularly Denon, which to my ears didn't sound impressive.Pros: * stunning sound - crisp, clear. currently hooked up with Harman Kardon HTKS 30BQ * quality onscreen menu, very easy to use * network player, plays music from ipod, iphone and mp3 from usb flash drive * 1080p upscale output, support for 3D and ARCYet to come across any con so far... I love this receiver a lot.

A Winner for a HT Enthusiast

HelloWe were in the market to replace our old (10+ yrs) but trusty Denon 1801 to move into a modern updated unit with the latest connections and mainly BR sound with DTS-HD and True-HD. Like the Denon I looked for reviews and mainly reader feedback. I picked at least one model from the mjor manufactures...Onkyo, Pioneer, Denon, Harmon Kardon and Yamaha. I came away with two out of the list..Yamaha RX-V667 and Denon AVR-891 (same as 2311CI). Both fit my list of needs and budget. I did look at the...

Nice receiver, works great with my mac network

The sound from this receiver is amazing. I give it 5-stars and I still need to add more speakers. Even when playing compressed mp3's the enhancer actually adds quite a bit of depth.Setup was straight forward. The on screen menus are easy to use, the design is lacking, but really they aren't accessed all that often once everything is setup. The on screen menus are still far better than trying to configure everything with extra buttons on the remote or using the front panel display.Speaking of the...

Excellent sound and video, but user interface/manual disappointing

RX-V671 is hub of home theater I just set up which includes 64" HD-3D TV, 3D Blu-ray player, iPAD for streaming Pandora, an old VHS-VCR, and an HD cable box. After 2 weeks of tweaking, tinkering, and several calls to Yamaha tech support, I got everything working well. Sound and video fidelity are fantastic. Another major strength of the system is the automatic speaker setup using Yamaha supplied microphone. Mildly disappointed that a unit of this quality did not include more programmable "sc...
