1065 & 765 Feedback

I needed to replace a couple of old receivers so I found a great deal on the RX-V1065 and RX-V765 on Amazon. I ended up getting both of them for aboout what 2 V665's would have cost me a a Big Box store. I first setup my Main Theate Room with the 1065, I thought it was somewhat difficult to get everything the way I wanted it but the automatic speaker setup was slick and the sound is fantastic compared to my old Sony I had previously. The Menu system takes some getting use to but once you do i...

Starting from scratch? On a budget but want it all?

My Receiver of about 8 years died on me. I needed a new one. I looked at my sources and discovered that they all had HDMI. PS3,HD-DVD (I know), Apple TV, and DirecTV HD DVR. So.. Four devices and the receiver has 4 inputs. Since most modern sources are using HDMI this receiver works great! The GUI and Auto Calibration are great! I thought I had a great system before. The Yamaha is so clean. Everything is crisp. I am not a big DSP user, but I found the 7 channel stereo fun when you are l...

Not Yamaha quality

First off, let me say this is the 4th RX-V series receiver I have owned from Yamaha and by far the most generic one (considering it has an MSRP of $1000).Unlike some other receivers from Yamaha, this one is rated 120w @ 1KHz, not the 20-20K they usually rate power from. So expect this one to be MUCH quieter than an older RX-V 100w rated @ 20-20k.You are unable to assign audio inputs to video inputs and must use the inputs as they are preset, except for adding a video source to the multi-channel ...

Nice A/V Receiver.

I've had this unit for about three months now and have had a great time learing it's strengths, weaknesses, and tweaks. I'm not currently using its HDMI inputs and outputs so this will be restricted to my perceptions of audio quality and output. First, setup is fairly easy and intuitive, both through the GUI and the front panel display. At first there is a bit of a learning curve for the remote but once familiarized, navigation is quick when changing parameters and switching between sources. My ...

A Receiver That Does Not "Receive"

This otherwise fine unit has a fatal design flaw with the performance of the FM radio receiver. Even with very strong local FM stations, the receiver can't hold on to the signal for more than a few seconds. Tune to a station, wait several seconds, signal acquired, then in a few seconds the signal drops, no sound for several seconds, gets it back for a few seconds, cycle repeats. This is with an outdoor antenna with a coax feed and amplified 1:2 splitter (also took splitter out of the coax fee...

Great unit but a D- for reciever sensitivity

Yamaha RX-V1065BL 7.2-Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver 1 - Each, BlackThe reciever sensitity is that of a hand held 9 volt radio. It is a big step down from my previous reciever. It picks up about 1/2 of the stations my old reciever did and even the strongest stations come in and out. Order a top noch antenna with a amp with this reciever.Changing the button assignments on the front can be quite a challenge but there is Yamaha technical assistance to walk you through the stuff if you have a...

Fine receiver with rca outputs for front, center and rear (and a great tuner for HD and FM)

I have had this receiver for a few months now. I use it as a preamp with Adcom for the front and Hafler for the rear along with Definitive Tech speakers and an 18" Velodyne. I tried it as an integrated amp and thought it was fine, but I am fussy and like to use my more powerful amps. I am very pleased with the imaging and detail that is typical of Yamaha. I guess someone got a lemon, because I was impressed with the tuner, especially the HD. The microphone setup of the speaker system is also a p...

Big Bang For Your Bucks

This unit is for anyone who wants powerfull sound and Clean sound, many options for additional componets, (HDMI , Digital , Optical , standard RCA jacks , Multi-room capable , ect... ). I tried out the new sony's before this and was very unhappy, I bought this one thinking I would be loosing some of the option I had with the sony but found out it has 3 times more and the quality is very better than my previous units. Since I made this purchase I have since added new polk audio speeakers an...

Far from perfect

After using this Yamaha for several months, it is obvious that it is not worth the price nor meets the high standards once found in Yamaha AV products. When playing DVD/BDCD player with the HDMI cable, it doesn't hold the setting, switching to AVX-1 until the HDMI button (or BD/CD buttons) are pressed again. The unit causes a booming or popping noise from the subwoofer each time that speaker is activated and it does not give enough volume to the center speaker for movie dialog. The unit is slow t...

Great except for tuner

I bought this unit because I love my Yamaha receiver that I've owned for the past 10+ years but needed to upgrade to take advantage of the new sound formats with BluRay. There was no problem connecting everything to it. The sound on BluRay, DVR & DVD is fantastic! It does the job and does it wonderfully! The only complaint is with the tuner. It only picks up 2 radio stations and one of them is HD. I don't understand why it is so poor at getting any other signal. I've looked around for a solution...
