The only thing thats entry level is the price

I bought this receiver to replace an older Onkyo that I had since 2004. THere was absolutely noting wrong with the Onkyo, it sounded great, but I wanted to upgrade to be able to have the HDMI switching capability since my HDMI sources were starting to grow. I have always been an Onkyo guy myself and have never owned a Yamaha receiver, but have always heard great things about them. What was most attractive to me about this receiver was obviously the price. But it also made me a bit skeptical as w...

Solid receiver, does the job fine.

I started out with a Marantz receiver also purchased at this location. I bought it for the name, as i had grown up hearing about Marantz quality. Well, the HDMI switching was very flakey, and it took quite a while to getting audio working thru the HDMI connections. I had to try something else..

Excellent Receiver

This is only the third receiver I've bought since I got into home audio in the mid-90's. I had owned a Yamaha before so I knew I could expect quality, and this unit is top notch. Not the easiest set-up, but if you know a little about what you're doing it's pretty straightforward. The sound quality is simply fantastic, with solid lows and crystal clear highs. I haven't played a lot of music with it, but the sound quality with Blu-ray discs is jaw-dropping.It also works very well with my iPhone.When...

Very impressed

I replaced what I thought was a good receiver from Kenwood with the Yamaha 371. The Kenwood was almost 10 years old and I knew there had to be general improvements made in that time frame but, wow. The Yamaha really blew me away, especially for the price. I love the DSP Cinema enhancer which will take my 2-channel stereo signal and play it in 5.1 and it sounds amazing. It brought new life to aging speakers that I bought at the same time as my Kenwood. The thing that I thought made the most diffe...

Great A/V Receiver

Easy to setup and use. I only use HDMI hookups with Blu-Ray, XBox 360, and DirecTV. All hookups were easy for me, including the speakers. My speakers are all "small" except for sub-woofer. I noticed that when left and right front speakers are set to "small", then Extra Bass would not turn on. Apparantly, front speakers should be large for it to work.

Perfect Receiver to Carry You Through the 3D era

This receiver is an absolute steal at this price when compared to its features and capabilities. The sound is crystal clear, the 3D passes thru flawlessly to your big screen. Yes, the wattage is lower than listed but its actual 500W is truly plenty of power for most speakers. This is my 2nd Yamaha and you really cant find a more consistent brand. I'm running Cable DVR, PS3, and a Sony Blu-ray player (all with HDMI) without any hiccups. Some people may not like the fact that the remote doesn't ha...

Great Value

This receiver works extremely well in all funtions ,extremely easy to set up, only thing I noticed, if you switch to FM mode from the HDMI inputs, volume increases dramatically, but once you know this and turn the volume down before you switch it is not an issue, sound is crisp and clear, my old pioneer receiver can't even compete with this one. If you are looking for a mid-price A/V receiver this is the one

Excellent value and quality for 100Wx5.1 receiver

The quality and features available in this receiver for the price can't be beat. I used this receiver to replace a 12 year old Kenwood receiver that was still working fine, but had outlived its usefulness as AV center (no HDMI inputs) This new receiver has 4 HDMI inputs along with regular component and composite view and optical, coax audio. It supports pass through 3D via HDMI. The setup and configuration is straightforward (if you are used to setting up this kind of device) and the instruction...

5 Star on Value and performance

I'm really satisfied with this reciever. I didn't have to spend a ton on it just to get a bunch of stuff I didn't need. The integrqated surround sound features for Music & Movies sound exceptional. I really like being to listen to my music like I'm at a Hall in Munich or The Roxy. Easy speaker test system, and sound set-up. Plenty of jacks to hook everything including a front jack for MP3, camera, ect. You just can't go wrong for the price. I've had a lot of High End equipment in the past, the V...

Yamaha RX-V 371 Excellent mid range receiver

The Yamaha RX-V 371 is an excellent entry/mid range receiver.80 watts per channel of real music power, excellent DSP Cinema surrounds, clean, clear, crisp reproduction of music and movies, many hidden fine tuning adjustments can be made to this receiver " IF " you read the manually fully and take your time refining this receiver. To the reviewer who needs help with turning on extra bass setting the speakers to "LARGE" and then turn on the extra bass feature will help you out in this area. Also make sur...
