Better Than I Thought

I replaced a Sony STR-DE698, the thing that drew me to the Yamaha RX-V663 was that it was said that the dialogue in movies was heard much more clearly and pronounced. This is very true, I had troubles with hearing clearly the voices with the Sony, but with the Yamaha they are truly clearer and I have no trouble hearing what's said, and that goes for TV viewing and CD's. The overall sound quality is just so smooth and clear compared to the Sony. The bass seamlessly intertwines with the other soun...

Great Buy

I have set this receiver up for 2 people, it sounds good, very easy to set up, automatically converts all signals going in to HDMI w/o touching anything. 2nd zone sounds good. My only issue with this unit is its 2 HDMI inputs and the remote is a step below previous Yamaha receivers. Tough call between this and the new Onkyo 606.

work of art for the budget minded

after hooking this up to a new 50" Samsung DLP TV and bose 301 front, bose 161 rear, and bose center i can tell you my 5 year old yamaha setup was lacking, ALOT, this new reciever has features that even i can't believe for the price, i mean my biggest selling point was all your components wired into reciever, ONE hdmi out, less mess to your tv, less wires to buy and this thing is idiot friendly to say the lea...

Great features, power, and price

Pros: - Great power to all the speakers, tighter bass from sub than previous S**y - Decodes all blu-ray HD formats (+ accepts 5.1/7.1 pcm from the PS3 w/ BDs) - (Optional) iPod dock works great with the receiver (u can play vids too) - Very in-depth setup options (crossover, mic-based speaker sensing) - Remote control supports a good # of devices (even dish dvr) - HDMI inputs/output + converts analog signals to HDMI so helps with # of cables going to the TV (ie. just 1 hd...

this receiver has a great sound. also, it's user friendly. it looks good and sounds as good as it looks!! i've had it for almost 2 years. it is very reliable. i'm using the mirage- nanosat 5 home theater satellite speaker system setup alone with the mirage s8 sub-woofer. it's incredible. so if you're out looking for a receiver, i recommend the yamaha RX-V663.

A Great A V Receiver

I purchased this receiver about 3 weeks ago to go with a newly purchased Blu Ray Disc player. I wanted to be able to utilize the lossless sound formats (Dolby True HD and DTS HD), since my Blu Ray player did not decode those formats. I can tell you this receiver is a real step up from the more basic receivers I have used in the past. The set up using the YPAO equalizer was a breeze. The sound with all sources is clean with no distortion that I can hear. Using HDMI version 1.3 cabl...

Yamaha 663

Buy this receiver. Buy it. I had a Sony 597 for a few years and thought it was producing good sound. The only problem was you really had to "crank it" to get the full effect. I called Crutchfield and let them know the set-up i had was running and the problems i had. The guy i talked to was awesome. He gave me options and now i know that Crutchfield is my one stop audio/video store from here on out. The high, lows, bass from my speakers are down right awesome. I say again AWES...

Great receiver!

The Yamaha RX-V663 is a great receiver. I've had it for a month now. It replaced a mid/low-grade SONY that I had owned for several years. I use it to drive a 5.1 surround-sound speaker set with a 12" sub-woofer. Very crisp sound reproduction and significantly better than the SONY. The Yamaha drives sounds that I had not ever heard before from my music library. It's sort of unsettling to listen to music and hear unexpected sounds and then realize they come from the music and not from outsi...

WOW! Yamaha RX-V663

I am very pleased with this receiver. Lot's of great features and sound is fantastic! Very clear and warm sound. Using Polk RM speakers / sub (that I bought from Crutchfield about 8 years ago) which give excellent imaging. As others have mentioned, the manual leaves a bit to be desired. After initial hook up, I had a panic attack cause I wasn't getting sound out of all my speakers - then ran the YPAO calibration and all was OK. This is a fantastic feature that ...

Yamaha RX-V663

We're having fun now!! Our Yamaha has been up and running for about a week. Installation was a little rough mostly because of my lack of technical ability. The people in support at Crutchfield were not only very helpful but patient as well. We have this Yamaha matched with Nanosat 5.1 speakers and I think it's a great combination so far. I am a little intimidated over the complexities and options of the 663. But I guess that's the state of art now. We'll be fine-tuning the overall system ...
