Dont walk run and buy this receiver!

I am very pleased to have purchased this receiver as it met all my expectations. I did get leary at 1st after ordering it, before it had actually arrived I read the CNet review & was also a little discouraged by some other reviews on the net of a few complaints of the fact that it weighs less then the previous model (Yamaha 663)and that the wattage has been lowered from 665 to 630. For those reasons I was going to cancel the order and purchase the Yamaha 765 model which is a bit heavier and has ...

Great receiver

I've had this now for one month and have been very pleased. It has 4 HDMI 1.3 inputs so I was able to easily connect my Direct TV DVR, Xbox 360, Panasonic Blu-Ray player and Panasonic DVD/VHS recorder. I'm using it as a preamp so I'm not using the built in amps. I like the HDMI pass through feature so I can watch normal TV with the receiver and sound system turned off and just use the normal TV speakers. You don't really need 7.1 surround sound for watching the news. The sound quality is really ...

Wonderful receiver but not compatible with many cable boxes

I chose the Yamaha V665 after careful comparison with other units, and was very impressed with ease of setup and features. The sound quality is excellent, and while I had initial concerns with power output, at 90 watts it demonstrates more useable power than my previous NAD unit at 100 watts. I particularly like the four "Scene" buttons which allow linked input sources and sound fields and switch the unit on with one action. Contrary to other reviews on Amazon you can easily assign whatever inpu...

Fantastic!

The RX-V665 is fantastic receiver at a this price point. I purchased this unit to replace a 1 year old Onkyo SR606 that wouldn't accept the HDMI signal from the latest FIOS HD-DVR (green screen of doom). Setup is was a little more difficult than the Onkyo due to the lack of audio input mapping, however a software update was available to enable it. Unfortunately, and similar to the Onkyo, the FIOS remote doesn't have a code that will turn on, adjust volume, AND turn off the uni...

Nice Digital Receiver.

This is a nice receiver. It is a good balance of power, features and price. It is really designed for someone who doesn't needs any analog video connections (RCA or SVideo). It does have analog audio inputs.I purchased it for our bedroom. We have a 32" LCD HD, HD Tivo, AppleTV and a DVD player. All of these connect to the receiver via an HDMI cable. For me, I don't need any analog video connections. So for my needs, this is perfect. Also, because all of the analog video decoders are not built in...

Yamaha RX-V665

I upgraded my Denon receiver with this Yamaha receiver to support my HDMI devices (Blu-Ray and HD cable box). I choose the Yamaha over other brands because it had certain features like the 2-zones, built-in XM compatibility, and the add-on iPod dock. As soon as I got, I set it up right out of the box and watched my first Blu-Ray in 5.1 surround sound and it was awesome. The colors were vivid and the sound was earth shattering, I thought my neighbors might complain.

Wow!

Purchased this unit Sunday night and it was on my door Tuesday afternoon; Crutchfield rocks! This unit is replacing a dated Sony STR-DE885 and all I can say is wow! Combined this unit with a Denon DVD-1800BD and I have my wife going nuts. So powerful that I'll have to replace my speakers.

What was Yamaha thinking about Wii owners?

This receiver is almost identical to the 565 which I just purchased. There are two model numbers for the 565 AV Receiver as disclosed on CNET. One model number is the Yamaha RX-V565BL 630 Watt 7-Channel Home Theater Receiver, the other is the Yamaha HTR-6250BL 630 Watt 7-Channel Home Theater Receiver, which I purchased. At various times, the prices of the two vary on Amazon, so I just went with the cheaper one. I coupled the receiver with the Energy Take Classic 5.1 and was able to ge...

New receiver, bad design

Just wanted to let everyone know, that although this is a new model receiver Yamaha left out assignable audio and video inputs. I just got off the phone with Yamaha pre sale support and they confirmed this on the models 465, 565, 665, 765, no assignable inputs. We get a receiver that finally has 4 HDMI inputs and HDMI pass through, but no asignable inputs. In other words you are stuck with the arrangement on the back panel. No way to assign optical/coaxial/analog audio inputs to a different vi...
