Yup, we like it

I got this receiver, it was brand new, still sealed, full warranty, and not damaged in any way. We've had it for about 3 months now. I really like the Yamaha quality. I've owned several Yamaha receivers (stereo and surround) over the years. I run our Comcast HD/DVR cable and Sony Blu-ray through the receiver via HDMI to our 720p TV (it's a smaller one). We also have our portable XM radio hooked up as well. Everything plays through our Klipsch speakers. I like having both Dolby...

Exceptional Good Value

Sorry, Jaffe. I just don't agree with your assessment and can't help but think that there must be other issues associated with your setup. I did not find this to be a mediocre device at all.I was in the market for a current HDMI compatible A/V receiver. Like another reviewer before me, I too had an older Sony that ran hot and was built before the transition to true high definition audio and video.I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination and am generally...

Tivo Series 3 works for me

There are two model numbers for this AV Receiver as disclosed on CNET. One model number is the RX-V565BL, the other is the HTR-6250BL, which I purchased. At various times, the prices of the two vary on Amazon, so I just went with the cheaper one. I coupled the receiver with the Energy Take Classic 5.1 and was able to get two satellites on Ebay to complete a 7.1 speaker system. To round out the system I have the Mitsubishi DLP 73". I also have the PS3, xbox360 and Wii hooked up.Unlike...

If you have a Tivo HD Series 3, PASS on this Yamaha!

Totally excited to find a Yamaha with 4 HDMI inputs on it, but I am now returning it.I have a Tivo Series 3 HD that I am trying to use, and this receiver has a bug when changing TV channels on the tivo. The Dolby Digital signal drops from the tivo, and the receiver tries to re-autodetect it every time you change channel. The end result is a digital "Chirp" that plays over the speakers and is REALLY annoying.I have tried swapping the unit out for a new one, changing wires, cha...

Pass on this one!

This receiver is hooked up to a set of Deftech 1000's, and the sound quality is mediocre at best. The receiver is really sub-par. The HDMI pass-through quality is terrible. Bad artifacts and it occasionally cuts out during action scenes. I've heard the firmware fixes the handshake issues, but after it's all set up, thats going to be a pain.Sound is muffled. Very poor mid-range. Highs, Mids and Lows just don't blend well together.I'm being very critical, because if you have to c...

Nice but things to know

I chose the 565 over the 665 and 765 for a couple of reasons but mainly because I did not want to pay the extra money for the extra features. One being the ability to run extra rooms. Even though it is not the top of the line when comparing the other two models mentioned I like it! A couple of things though. Be sure you know that with Yamaha receivers you must have a powered sub woofer, which means an extra $$ to $$$. Not sure if they are all like that but with ...

This is all I needed to upgrade to HMDI receiver

I upgraded from a Sony STR-DE945 non HDMI receiver, to this new HDMI RX-V565BL Yamaha. The sound quality is every bit as good as the Sony and it runs half as hot as the Sony. Old Sony lasted 7 years until a relay on main board shorted out. Install was easy, set up of settings was some what confusing along with its remote control usage. Its display is also difficult to read at more than a few feet away. I am very pleased with this receiver after 45 days of usage. It is a good buy, and has all th...

Discounts Jungle.com lies and Amazon needs to do something about it!

This company lies. The Yamaha receiver was advertised as new on Amazon. I received it a couple of hours ago and opened the packet with the manual to read it. The manual had handwritten notes all over it and obviously had been used by another individual who made connection notes in the manual. Sam, of Discounts Jungle said someone in his warehouse had made the notations while packing the unit for shipping. I ask you, why would that person make note of which inputs he/she had hooked up a WII ...

Great Value, Great Sound

Fantastic system for the price! This is my second Yamaha receiver as I needed HDMI connectivity for my other components. The receiver was very easy to setup with plenty of HDMI inputs for my needs as I am connecting a DVR and Blu-Ray player to a 55\u201d LCD 1080p. The screen setup was a great feature and makes adjusting the system a breeze. I also wanted HD audio and this system has Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD. Only two negatives I found so far: 1) the user manual was difficult to understand regardin...

Awesome Buy

I recently had a Yamaha receiver, but was an old one with no HDMI hook ups nor did it have True HD and DTS HD. After purchasing this receiver without spending a fortune for a new one, this choice could not have been better. i actually expected less, but this receiver is awesome. I am a movie guy and watch movies regularly and the sound is just terrific. I would recommend this product to everyone.
