To use with Mac OS X you need to do the following steps:1. Connect the Western Digital My Passport hard drive to your Mac.2. This drive is very small and could fit into a man's shirt pocket. It is a usb3 drive which makes the transfer of files very fast. It uses the power from your usb port. You can plug it into a usb2 or usb3 port. My 3rd Passport
I purchased this from Office Max, not Amazon. Nothing at all against Amazon as I have purchased a ton of stuff here.I am a complete tech geek and purchased this for the storage capacity only, not any of the provided software. Stopped working after 31 days 1 day after return policy expired!
Used this drive twice, thern is stopped working. Tried is on five difference PC/Laptops and some don't even see it, while other say i/o error on hdd. Will dot buy another portable drive like this. I have another one that I beat up in my computer bag all the time and has never failed. This one was kept in a case and never used more than twice. What a let down.

failed after 4 months
I bought this back in the middle of May and it is now the middle of September, so 4 months later, and it has already failed. I used it as the main hard drive for editing photos in Lightroom on my laptop and I also used it to transfer files back and forth between my laptop and desktop (which runs on windows). Almost everything I expected
The portability of this item i wonderful, literally fits the pocket, very easy to use, and once you get rid of the pre-loaded content on the drive you get a fair amount close to the TB.My main nitpick about the item is that it seams to be incompatible with the ps3, a factor to be considered if you want to be able of moving information to your console
