Had the hard drive up and running in less than two minutes. Speed is more than adequate for file sharing when connected to my Netgear router. I was originally considering a 1TB drive but couldn't pass up the 1.5TB capability for less cost...it is like getting an extra 500GB free.

Good Back-up
 
This is much easier to set up than older WD external hard drives. Recent purchase so can't rate reliability, but files stored pull up fine so far (not always the case with a private off-site back-up company). It's plug and go without formatting difficulties.

Great External Back-up
 
So far, this is an easy external hard drive back-up. It's much easier than the older external drives that needed formatting, etc. It's basically plug in and use. I have not had it long enough to determine reliability, but I've been able to open from this unit fine. I've had periodic problems with an off-site back-up company (files did not open properly) so I'm using the external hard drive as a back-up to the off-site's back-up for irreplaceable files.

Gets the job done.
 
Works well, had to reformat to macOS. Very easy to do with the instructions online.

A decent backup drive
 
It's USB 2, so not all that quick, and the internal drive is almost certainly 5400rpm, so not all that quick. Perfect for overnight backups. Lots of storage space for regular users (digital photographers will run out pretty quickly), but this is a decent backup drive. I like Western Digital and have bought their drives for years.
