This is one cool gadget

Obtaining this TrendNet camera is my first foray into a home security camera and so far it has been pretty impressive -- it does a lot for the price. While I haven't had it for long, here are my initial thoughts:**PROS**-PoE. I went with PoE (TV-IP672PI) over WiFi because a) either way you will need a cable for power and b) if part of the purpose of the cam is for security, I'd rather have a cable over a WiFi signal "hanging out there" for some bored hacker to try and tap into, even if it is e...

Good, with some issues

This is my first IP camera. It was a bit difficult to configure on the camera itself; and the software is confusing and poorly documented. I got it running over wired network with PoE (power over Ethernet). To help others, some of what I have learned.First, go to the TrendNet site and get the setup wizard for the camera, the latest firmware, and the SecurView Pro software and manual. All of these were substantially more updated than what came in the box; don't even bother with the CD.Power the ca...

Some good, some bad!

Firstly this is my first IP camera so I have nothing to compare it against, so some of the issues I mention may not be Trendnet specific. One thing that is clear after my 2 weeks of use is that if this camera is typical then there is space in this market for someone to produce a much slicker, easy to use quality product at a good price point.Firstly the good:1. The image quality is pretty good in good lighting.2. Audio is pretty good.3. The camera has a lot of features, Wifi, sd card recording, P...

Buy it for H264 and PoE, terrible software otherwise

This is the type of product where you can see its potential, but after getting to know the product have to come to the realization that most of the potential is wasted due to poor design and software. It's the simple things... for example, I want the camera to scan back and forth. Should be easy to do, right? The camera has a "patrol" function after all, right? So you go into the web interface, point the camera left, and make a save position called left. Easy enough. Point the camera right, m...

Good camera

This camera is very good - especially for the price. The only thing to be aware of is the lack of auto-focus. While this does not make the camera unusable, it does cause some issues if you pan around to an area that's focal point is of a different distance than other places in the pan. Just something to keep in mind when installing it - especially if your first view is blurry. Overall the camera is outstanding - and very durable. We dropped it from 20+ feet on to concrete, oops, and no damag...

Not impressed

I cannot recommend this camera unless it will never be accessed by a Mac user. So far I've had a ticket in for over a month asking why Macs can not view either MPEG4 or H.264, just the seriously lousy JPEG. I was given a quick "Use Firefox, it won't work in Safari" answer (which of course was bull), and when I kept up the inquiries they said they would look into it with the Mac in their office... which as of this writing was 2 weeks ago. It requires Java, but also must install an additional Tren...

Nearly Perfect Camera!

TRENDnet got it mostly right with this amazing camera. I have had several IP cameras over the years and this one is the best of them by a wide margin. There is very little to complain about this camera and the firmware interface built into it. If you are already familiar with IP cameras and how they are configured, you will have no problem learning these settings in a few hours or playing with them and experimenting to see the results. If you are new to IP cameras, it will take some learning...

Trendnet Megapixel PTZ IP Camera

The camera installation was easy with performance better than expected. Picture quality is very good for a low cost IP camera and has several selectable resolution and file format settings. The multi-camera control software however was problematic. Several attempts with Trendnet helpdesk support were unsuccessful in resolving the installation problem. Alternate control sofware from another vendor was easily installed and supports the Trendnet camera series.

Poor Quality control

Purchased two. First one worked great. Second one only worked through cabled lan. Wifi on it wouldn't see the router (same exact setup as one that works). Returned that one for replacement. The replacement had a motor problem out of the box. It would tilt properly but would not pan past a certain point and would just shudder/stall. Sent that one back for refund. I have kept the one that works and it works well and the software is nice. I have it so I can check via the android app. All ...

Nice hardware, AWFUL software, setup, and documentation

Know how Apple products "just work"? This is the opposite of that. This is one of those gadgets that even if you're a nerdy pro, you hate. It's tremendously difficult to set up, partly because the product itself is designed so poorly and partly because the documentation provided by Trendnet is incomplete at best (sentences with key words missing, etc) and stupidly vague at worst.I just wanted a camera that would record video when it detected motion, that I could also view from my phone wh...
