Awful GPS
You can read the reasons some people like it, but I am going to mention why I hate this thing. This is my second TomTom, because I liked the first one and the on screen data so much. It seems this is almost the same as the 1505. I got it because of the lifetime map updates. I think I updated the maps once, took a long time but it worked. Awesome But It Could Get Better...Touchscreen Needs Update!!!!
I have owned a tomtom go 930T for 2 years which performs great except for weak voice reception when connected to bluetooth and expensive map update. So I decided to get a new tomtom via 1453tm which include a lifetime traffic and maps. Best GPS Device for the Price
Update as of 8/12/2011There has been a couple of software updates for this device which makes the device more reliable...I do now notice that bluetooth calling clarity has improved a bit, directions with traffic is calculated faster and lastly voice recognition has greatly improved. It was unfortunate that TomTom initially released a buggy device, but they are fixing it, so the first thing that everyone should do with this device after getting it, is to update the software.

Great GPS - Crappy Customer Support!
I bought this Tom Tom VIA 1405 as an upgrade from my old Garmin Nuvi. The key selling point was the free lifetime map and traffic updates feature of the Tom Tom. Very accurate.
Great product! As soon as I registered my product and checked for updates, it was ready to use. I was very pleased with this product on my first road trip. It was very accurate in time, distance and traffic conditions. I also used the product when traveling around town. It alerted me ahead of time and recommended an alternate route. Which saved me 45 mins from sitting in traffic because of an incident that had occurred on the route I was taking.(hide full review)

I have a Garmin nuvi 680 that has really old maps and thought it's time to update, especially since I will be travelling to Mexico and Canada for work. Wait...wait..Please wait before buying the Via1405TM.
I purchased the Via1405TM from Staples on 6/14/11. As you can tell from the title please wait till the end of the year before purchasing this model.
