Belongs in the upper echelons of microphone greatness
 
The Studio Projects CS5 belongs in the upper echelons of the worlds studio greats. I know that's a big statement to make, so here's why: 1. It reproduces transients fast, 2. it's smooth yet punchy and very clear across the frequency range. 3. It's sound is wide open and not hyped or forced in any frequency. 4. Great Mic
 
I have owned and used this mic for several years. It has a great response and a nice warm sound.I haven't used the pads or the filters as much as I probably should, but the Patterns are perfect for my Trio.we use this mic in Live performances. Not so much for voice over
 
I've put this next to a R0DE NT2-A and an AT-2035. I liked both of them better for my voice. I have a deeper voice and it seems to focus on the low end, making it rather boomy. Secondarily, the shock mount was just cheap. Half of it felt like machined aluminum, while the rest was clearly cheap chinese plastic. The microphone quality seemed okay, but put against a R0DE or an Audio-Technica, it was just embarassing. Padding, low, and high pass filters are nice, but I was just not impressed w...
