Wonderful Mic...Great Sounding

This mic is one of the best sounding and most functional USB mics around with one big problem. Years back when the Blue Snowball first came out it required a firmware update to fix a gain issue. The LSM has a similar issue causing noise at all volume levels. The LSM mic needs a firmware update to fix this unbearable noise, but no firmware update is available. Ignoring the noise when I tested this mic it does have a big full sound with accurate lows and smooth highs. I only tested it through USB....

Great Microphone

I teach interactive design (ok - game development) at a community college in Iowa. I picked up this mic in September 2012 for obvious reasons, and have loved it ever since. We frequently plug it into both an MBox2 and the USB port on someone's laptop, and it works equally great both ways. Excited to try a mic that can use XLR and/or USB connections. XLR performance is fine, but USB side has a whine to it and LOTS of self-noise. Sent back to Studio Projects; they "couldn't replicate the problem." I could replicate it on my MacBook, a friend's MacBook Pro, and my iPad 2, with different cables. They sent me an entirely different mic: same problem on all systems. How the company that manufactures this can't figure it out, I don't know. The guy at PMI told me they were testing ...

serious studio workhorse

I've tested the Studio Projects LSM extensively as part of a series of mic reviews that sought to identify the "Best $200 Condenser." The LSM was one of the two favorite mics. We heard it on acoustic guitar, guitar cab, vocals, voiceover, and drum overheads. It consistently outperformed pricier mics from better-known brands. It is not what I would consider a neutral sound, but its color seems to flatter most sources.I have been recommending this mic as a general-purpose studio workho...
