Wow, stay far away from this one lad ies and gents...

Upon opening the package I was pleased with the sleek look of the case, the cool extra and useful touches added to the front of the model, those including: individual drives bays with locking doors, and an automatic swing shut securing mechanism for each SSD! How awesome!Well, that's where my love affair ended. I installed both drives and locked the front panel of each one, but then remembered I had not formatted them yet. Silly me!Soooooo, I opened the lock on the top compartment and took out

Great RAID and prior ver for 3 yrs saved our site!

You have to set this up right to get either JBOD with both drives visible or mirrored RAID. Once setup, it works great. I setup this version on Windows system (yes, NTFS) attached it to a Pogoplug server for over 2 years. It saved our server well when one of the two drives failed. Gracefully failed over to the other drive. This version and the prior version from StarTech work great!

Great for eSATA DVR's

I upgraded the hard drives in my laptop and had the 2 old drives just sitting around, unused. Fios finally added support for the eSATA port on the back of their machines and this works great with it.I should note that it did not work in RAID 0 mode, but the DVR probably doesn't require that kind of performance - so I have it set to JBOD and it works great. My hard drive models matched (required for RAID 0 or 5), but if you have a couple of spare 2.5" disks laying around this would be a great

Won't work with Windows 7 64 Bit

Only works with 1 drive in Windows 7 64 bit. With Windows XP it works fine.
