Can't beat it
This thing is awesome. I carry it with me all the time. As a musician, it is essential. My band mates are constantly amazed at the sound quality when I send them recordings of our rehearsals and performances. They have similar devices, but the consensus is that this is the best available anywhere near this price range. For a device that's so feature-rich, it's really easy to use. In fact, I find myself using all of the features it offers, even the pitch-shifting and time-stretching capabilities....

Amazing Recorder!`
I like to record some of my practicing (viola) and analyze it. I also like to practice tough passages using A-B repeat and at various speeds (at same pitch). In the past I used a minidisc recorder for the former and a Tascam CD-VT1 Mark II for the latter. I got the Sony M10 several weeks before Christmas. First of all, it replaced both of the above and was more convenient than either. It was easy to use with a short learning curve. It has more switches than you might think by looking at it. Besi...

Sony and Outstanding Sound
I'll keep this short as possible. This recorder is outstanding. For field work I use Rode NT4 stereo mics or even the AT822 (older model). What I wanted to emphasize is with significant internal memory and easily added micro sd cards one can record music at obviously high resolution. The line in records incredibly well with high fidelity stability and very low noise. Since mp3s are the rage now I wanted to share this. When you acutally record at an mp3 rate directly rather than dither it down fr...

Good recorder
Sony PCM-M10 is a good recorder. It's easy to use. I use it when I practice piano at school. It does record most of the sounds but the dynamic range feels like too compressed and small. Compared with 10 years old (portable) Sharp MD, Sony did not perform any better. MD was three times more than this one. You will get what you pay for. I am satisfied about the battery life.

Great Recorder
My husband and I use this to record music we play at jams and at home. Occassionally we record for private CDs with friends. Have only had it a few weeks, but have tried to use it a lot to get comfortable using it.I like the controls and the display. Controls are familiar and easy to use. (I have a joy-stick controlled MP3 player that is frustrating, I can never remember which direction to push the darn thing to get it to do what I want.)Lots of onboard memory without having to have a memory...

Alot of punch from a small package
This unit is simply amazing. Very easy to use starting out with many additional features that require some study to master. The quality of sound is pristine and crystal clear. The automix doesn't require any tweaking other than trying out where to place the unit to get the best results. Plus you can easily carry it in your pocket or sachel and have it ready to go in an instant. Another plus is great battery life so your not switching out batteries every other day.

a great little recorder
i'm a professional recording engineer, recording mostly classical music remotely and wanted this recorder as the recorder for a micro rig i could take on the subway. so far i've used it a few times to record shows for one of the bands i play in, and it's great. i use it with a portable external mic pre and a pair of omni condenser mics and it sounds fantastic. setup is easy with a hardware gain control, decent metering (although no peak hold) and headphone amp. battery life is amazing and since ...

Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sony PCM-M10/R Portable Linear PCM Recorder, 96 kHz/24-bit, 4GB Memory & USB High-Speed Port, Glossy Red (Electronics) In fairness to the product, which i just received today, this review is not about the Sony recorder. I am hoping that it is everything the other reviewers raved about. In fact, i purchased this model over the Olympus, based on the reviews here. I will update this review later, after i have ha...
