Not so great transcriber

This review is from: Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber (Office Product) I've been transcribing with an Olympus for six years. I needed another machine, so I bought the Sony M-2000...not a great product for the money. Even if you have the volume turned all the way up to 10 (highest), you can't hear the person very well and there's a muffled quality, even with the tone on high. I can't believe the difference in the quality of sound between the two. I'm disappointed with the...

Sony 2000 Transcriber

This review is from: Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber (Office Product) Excellent service delivering this product as I received it the next day!Two things I'm not happy with:Every time the peddle is depressed there is a very loud clicking sound from the machine which is very annoying--sometimes having to backup again and relisten to what was being said. The other one is...even with the volume turned up at its highest, if the person dictatin...

My girlfriend just loves it

This review is from: Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber (Office Product) I purchased this for my girlfriend for her birthday because she is completing her masters and needs it to transcribe interviews she's done for her thesis. She was previously using an older model and has fallen in love with this one, so far she is getting the job done twice as fast at a better quality

Transcriber overall review

On the positive side, the transcriber was delivered quickly. Packaging was very good, with all of the required accessories that was advertised. The size was perfect as a spacesaver, and it looked very contemporary and professional. However, the counter is extremely small. You would need a magnifying glass to read the counter. Also, when the foot pedal is pressed either to go forward or backward, there is a loud, annoying sound. I tried to transcribe a short tape, but the loud sound whenever the...

Microcassette transcriber

This is ok for the price, but there is no erase feature and so I have to use an older transcriber to erase tapes. The cassette compartment does not always open properly and I have to work with it to make it open. I realize that most transcribers are digital and this is still a cassette, but my boss is old school and does not use anything digital. Overall not as good as my older one that finally quit after several years.

Look elsewhere

This review is from: Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber (Office Product) Unfortunately, the office needed to replace the prior transcription machine and this is the unit that was bought. No matter what we tried, even with the volume up to 10, you just cannot hear. So, I now have to use my Bose earbuds to do my work. Not really fair for the money spent on the unit. Look elsewhere.

Volume is the problem!

This review is from: Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber (Office Product) This item is a great item except for one thing. The volume is not good. You have to turn it all the way up to hear it adequately. I am glad to see that everyone has this problem and its not my hearing though!

Not As Expected

This review is from: Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber (Office Product) Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber/RecorderI purchased this Transcriber after using a 3M-Harris Transcriber for over 20 years. The Volume is a definite problem. Even with the volume turned all the way up, voices are muffled and very hard to hear. Also, when the foot pedal is activated, there is a loud clicking noise that sometimes overrides what one is trying to transcribe. I have trie...

Ok, but not great

This review is from: Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber (Office Product) This transcriber gets the job done, but if you do a HEAVY amount of transcribing, then spend more money and get something better. Even with the volume turned to 10, I still have difficulty hearing. Just the noise from my keyboard alone when I'm typing makes it even more difficult to hear. If you work somewhere with a LOT of background noise (phones ringing, co-workers talking, office machines buzzing a...

Not bad

I used an older Sony machine prior to purchasing this one. While it's nice that it's smaller, it only gives you 3 options for reverse time (and none are right for what I'm used to) and it doesn't have the ability to erase a tape when you're done. It also does not have an on/off switch. It goes on when you hit the foot pedal.
