Best SONY product in 35 years

This is one of the finest SONY products I have purchased in my 35 years of using SONY stuff. . . . The heavy construction of the speakers and DVD console is not only impressive looking, it is of the highest quality materials and production I have every acquired from any manufacturer in any home entertainment product. SONY used genuine brushed aluminum and chrome on the speaker stands and the front panels, as well as heavy (at least 3/8") acrylic wherever the aestheti...

Unique design, conversational piece. Great sound.

There are obviously many surround sound systems available on the market. So the first thing I did is to figure out my most important criteria. For me, the top 2 criteria are (1) Wow factor look, (2) Wireless surround rear speakers. I have owned this unit for 6 months. I bought it online new for $1500. As you can see from my uploaded pictures, I am going for the simple but elegant look. I am no longer attracted to the rack of black A/V equipment. We became somewhat immune to the stac...

a conversation piece indeed

I made the bad assumption that a very expensive system should at least be able to do the basic things any old car radio can do. Wrong assumption. You can not adjust high or low tones. This must be one of the few systems even for sale anywhere that don't allow you to adjust sound. So if your hearing of high tones is not so good, or if there is windnoise on a video you have shot, or if the explosion sounds behind you during a war movie become irritating, you are out of luck with ...

Great HTS - but not really wireless

First, It is the best HTS I have heard in long time. It is super sleek. Easy hook up. The DVD/CD player has the best design with touch screen controls and cool blue lights. The remote control receiver is in the center speaker - so it doesn't matter where you put the DVD/CD player. The digital amp is in the sub woofer - agian great design - because you have less compenents to manage. It is a single DVD/CD player, but is has MP3 technoloy. I had a sony 5 disk changer before, but I never used it u...

For Home Theater use. Audiophiles beware-No Tone or EQ Settings.

I was excited to unpack this system and give it a try. After set up I played a new remixed SACD (Super-Audio CD) of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon recorded in 5.1 The sound was very disappointing, all mid-range, poor high-end and minimal bass. I tried an older standard CD of Dark Side of the Moon and the tone was the same. I don't like thump but I do like tonal balance. There are is no way to adjust the sound -no tone controls or EQ settings. The only sound control available occurs when yo...

DO NOT BUY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

I made the HUGE mistake of purchasing a similar system (DAV-LF1H, the same except it has an HDMI output and it's more expensive) because I wanted a small, good looking home theater system for our bedroom. I can't say anything good about it, and the only neutral thing I can say about it is that it's design is "unconventional". Allow me to tell you why I am so utterly dissatisfied: I recieved the unit with 2 major malfunctions that made it essentially unusable- the DVD player skipped...

A warrior forgetting to bring his spear

And that spear is wma format music. Everything else was good, up to the snuff, but once I found out Sony's products do not accept wma format, I decided to "dump the baby". What a stupid, or arrogant company Sony is! Everybody else can claim how good it is, (since they own it, they hate to hear bad things about it). I am honest, as wma becomes more popular and has a better sound quality, I cannot forgive Sony for its stupidity: I finally bought a different much nicer product...
