Waste of Money

I was expecting much more from Sony then what the delivered in the DCR-SX45. Very poor quality in general. Taking videos in doors, need to make sure you are burning a 100 watt bulb for lighting. Outside the LCD is useless. Can't see anything on the LCD due to glare from the sun. Records in MPEG-2 that explains the low quality. Will invest in a more expensive Canon Model.(hide full review)

Extremely disappointed in video quality!

One would expect superior video quality with a $300 Sony product, but this cam falls WAY short of my expectations.We bought this to record our music gigs and family outings. The indoor quality from a distance is pathetic at best. Forget about zooming in either. We play at restaurants with very good lighting, so no, we're not in some dark corner somewhere. It works great and I got it for a good price, but . . .

It's not HD, so the video quality isn't super like I was used to seeing. I got it as a refurbished camcorder, and it's everything I was looking for within my budget EXCEPT it's not HD, but I knew that when I bought it, so I think that what I got at the price I got it, I like it.
