My first BluRay

The price of BluRay players has kept me out of the market until now, but I finally made the plunge. The reasons I chose this particular unit were the LAN port and, most importantly, the analog 7.1 audio outputs. I have an older Onkyo receiver which does not have any decoding for "high definition" audio formats, but is eguipped with 7.1 analog inputs. I have now viewed 2 BluRay discs (Ironman & Stargate), and using Dolby TrueHD, the audio quality was excellent. My TV is a 52 inch 4-year-old rea...

Very Pleased

I have owned the Sony BDP-S550 for about 3 weeks now. Now that I have it set up properly, it is working perfectly. I am using it with my new Onkyo TX-SR606S receiver and the two work great together. I am using the HDMI cable to connect the blu-ray player with the receiver for video and sound. Unfortunately the blu-ray manual is confusing, and Sony tech support wasn't very helpful, but after browsing the various forums on the web, I found that I had to set the BD Audio setting to Direct in or...

New Sony BDP-S550

Just a quick review,The picture is Very Good on Blue Ray and the main reason for purchase is that all HD audio formats are output at the 7.1 analog outs yes HD Master Audio (ALL) Audio. So you can hook up to an older reciever with analog inputs and you have it all with audio that is.

Great Product, Reasonable Price!

This product is my 2nd Blu-Ray player and I was impressed by its capability, built, and user friendliness. The Sony BDP-S550 Blu-Ray Player is a great improvement from its 1st generation Blu-Ray Player counterparts. It is very stable and you can easily operate it straight out of the box. The User Manual and its setup graphical user interface is easy to follow. But what really set this product apart from other brands is its solid build, and it is made in Japan! The only reason that prevents me fr...

Just a few more features needed

I have owned the Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray player for about three weeks. It is my first Blu-ray player. With the right Blu-ray program material, the audio and video quality is as good as all the positive reviews here attest. The audio is the tricky part to set up, but I worked it out in about ten minutes. I set the audio mode to "Direct" instead of the default "Mix" to ensure that the player outputs lossless audio (when such a soundtrack is available on a disc) instead of lossy Dolby Digital or ...

Pristine video. Crystal clear audio.

Let me first start out by stating that I'm living in an analog world. I'm using component video and 7.1-channel RCA connectors for audio. This ability, combined with Profile 2.0, was the primary reason I waited for the Sony BDP-S550.Out of the box, the unit is surprisingly small. It's full-width, but only half the depth of every other component I have in my rack. This all but guarantees the new Blu-ray Disc player will sit proudly at the top of my six-and-a-half foot tower of ele...

Great Do-It-All Player (Finally)

Well, I just got the player a couple of days ago from Amazon, and since nobody has reviewed it, yet, I thought I'd first provide a comparison to the 350 and then my impressions to give a full overview.COMPARISONThis is the "big brother" of the Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player. What are the differences (Apart from more than $100 at the time of this writing)? One big one (for some) and two minor ones:- It does 7.1 ANALOG Audio out. (Big deal for some people, like mys...

Great Experience

I have read the reviews and cannot agree with them. Perhaps the newest firmware version updated a lot of items people complained about. I can watch Netflix without having to Queue. I can search for items as needed and add them to my Queue if I like. I have had a great experience with my player thus far. I am very pleased.

Terrible range

I've had this adapter plugged into my KDL-EX711 for a year and a half. Worked great out of the box for about 3 months. Gradually over time, the signal from my router would get weaker. Replaced the router, and made no difference. Replaced router again 6 months later hoping this would help, but no difference. New router has incredible range.. I can walk 100ft down the street and still connect with my tablet. No luck with the tv. This adapter is a waste of time and money. I've noticed the other rev...
