Interestingly, the Sony site doesn't advertise what the manual does;- there's 3 variations;-DEV-3DEV-5 - with greater magnification than the DEV-3 and also with GPS (when selected in the menu), carry case, lens cover, eye cups and eye capDEV-5K - same as the DEV 5, but includes the optional external battery charger, larger battery and a couple of extra (but unnecessary) cablesTo get up and recording you will need an SD card, but it's not an unusual extra purchase and you can use the binoculars w...

This is a 3D camera, not a realbinocular

This is an interesting idea, but I thought possible purchasers should be aware of this:When I first saw this product, I thought they designed a binocular, which lens has much greater magnification than those of camcorder (and maybe still cameras), and added video and photo recording to it.On detailed specs I saw elsewhere, it gave the "35mm equivalent" of the focal length. I asked Sony about this and, much to my disappointment, was told that this is basically a 3D camera shaped like binoculars,...

I have to agree with Mary, as far as how poor Sony are when it comes to value for money with this product. My DEV 5, also purchased via Amazon, arrived on December 24th after i'd missed the previous days delivery; and I was so happy that I did a little dance in front of Mr UPS!I actually knew that the DEV 5 didn't include a memory stick as there was no mention of one in any of the sales literature, but it was initially of minor concern to me as I already had a couple of 16 gig Produo sticks that...

Good news for wild life and nature lover

Some Cons : i think, Product Specification is wrong here because i searched this binocular on Sony authorised website and read the specification that its 1080i(60i) not 1080p(60p). so here specs is 1080p(60p) i think its wrong.

We were anxiously awaiting the arrival of our Sony binocular camera. It arrived tonight. YIPPEE!Here's the amazing shock..... $2,000.00 spent on this camera and Sony is so freekin cheap, that they don't include a memory card or a strap for the binocular case! $2,000.00 and no memory card? Are you kidding me? And what exactly do you do when you take the camera out of the case......Put the case in your pocket?I'll be returning with a real review after we buy the memory card and use the camera. Righ...

Great Camera for Action Sports

I've filmed my sons Little League Football and my daughters Soccer matches with this camera. It's finally easy to watch and film at the same time. Zooming in/out is easy and I don't miss a frame or any of the action. I've already compiled some great highlights from football. I can't wait to see what I can capture during baseball season.

Works well for my purposes!

I got these because I am an optics enthusiast and into 3D, but I find that they are excellent for watching and taking records of wildlife. They start up quickly and are easy to use. My main complaint would be that they can't really be used in low light conditions (have not tried with an IR floodlight yet, though). If the development team happen to read this, a rough distance indicator in the viewfinder would be extremely useful (in future firmware?).

Don't expect to get a memory card with any of these cameras. Canon's $6995.00 top end 1Ds MK III as all of the line does not come with memory as it is an investment within itself. Higher speed more$$$...
