Excellent little receiver

I bought this receiver specifically for the HD radio feature and I am pleased with my purchase.I live in the Philadelphia area and I like classical music. Unfortunately, there are no "normal" stations that broadcast classical in the evening. But when I bought this receiver, I was able to receive 3 stations in the area that broadcast classical music on HD2. It's a special treat to listen to my music when I come home. Before going on, I think it is fair to caution you that b...

Capable Receiver, Complicated Remote

The SHERWOOD RD-7405HDR is almost exactly what I wanted in a receiver at a very fair price. It delivers great sound via the HD Radio option--makes FM sound like a CD and AM sound almost as good as FM. You can tune into regular AM/FM signals or with other inputs, listen to music from a CD or other sources. I use an Apple Express to stream my iTunes library as well as internet radio into the receiver so I can listen in my office or out on the back patio. There are two surround speaker choices ...

No HDMI audio

This receiver has 2 HDMI inputs which led me to believe that I could connect it with an HDMI cable and have wonderful sound. I later learned that the HDMI inputs are only a switch for video and do not tune the audio. You must use the optical or coax inputs to tune the audio and miss out on the real sound. For instance, my blu ray disk offered me a choice of 7.1 surround or 2.1 surround and since I only had optical inputs I could only use 2.1 surround.I could however use the optical input a...

No audio decoding on HDMI inputs.

I purchased this product and returned it the day I received it. This receiver may be a good HD Radio receiver, but, it is worthless as Video Surround sound receiver. The receiver does not decode audio from the HDMI inputs. This means you cannot input two digital audio inputs. You could bring in one audio input on the optical input. But, if you have two devices like cable TV and Blue Ray player it won't work. I think the product is misrepresented and over sold. It advertises two HDMI inputs y...

Great sounding receiver

It was hard to find a receiver that had HD radio. The Sherwood RD-7405HDR sounds great listening to AM and FM stations. The stations come in crystal clear.

70 W ? I don't think so

The idea was to add this component Sherwood HD radio tuner to my current system. I have a Pioneer Elite Series stereo system with 15 inch 3-way speakers rated at 100 W.I am a man of very few words, so let me get down to my observations of the Sherwood HD radio tuner. At first glance the Sherwood HD radio appears to be a quality unit. I was especially anxious to check out the local HD stations. My roof antenna is HD ready and does a fantastic job at pulling in TV stations. Having ever...

Wonderful receiver!!!

I bought this receiver for the HD Radio and I could not be more pleased with it. I get the stations that I wanted and the sound is fantastic! I personally would recommend this receiver to anyone. I am very pleased.

Confusing manual and control menus. Poor bass with regular speakers (without a subwoofer)

I purchased one of these receivers a few months ago. I own other HD radios, but I wanted a quality full-power HD receiver. One problem (that seems common with today's receivers) is that I can't find a way to get much bass response into a two-speaker configuration without a subwoofer. I have older three-way speakers with 12" woofers that shake the room with bass when hooked up to an older receiver, but this one (like many others nowadays) seems to require a subwoofer to hear any bass. Even in (wh...

Avoid this receiver

I ordered this receiver a bit before Christmas. Within a month one of the channels stopped powering the speaker. I got a replacement (keep in mind, shipping something like this costs >$20), a couple months later, I was having issues with several other channel on the replacement receiver. Its no longer under warranty, so I'm stuck with a $200 broken receiver and just bought a different brand that's been working flawlessly.
