Don't Buy

I have had the unit for 8 months. I bought a Sharp to sync up well with my Sharp TV which it does. I have allways noticed how slow the player is to respond to commands. It takes a good deal of time to read BlueRays which does before playing. If its paused it takes time to restart. Probably because these are early generation players. DVDs don't have these issues. What is more worrysome is that there are BlueRay Discs it won't play. I've tried two different copies of Avatar and it refuses to play ...

Great product

This review is from: Sharp AQUOS BD-HP22U 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics) After doing much research and trying to find the best DR & DVD player for the money I found this product. I do not own a Sharp TV but it worked great on my VIZIO TV. The manual is great however I wish it would tell you more about programming the remote functions. At first glance it looked like you should be able to operate your TV with it as well but it only works on a sharp TV. No big deal to me ...

Great product

I have connected this blu ray player to an aquos led tv and the picture quality is excellent. Recommend that you connect this player to a sharp aquos tv player as far as possible. Very good value for money.

Great Blu-ray Player!

I bought this player a year ago, when I finally decided to upgrade to blu-ray. All blu-rays played fine, with no issues. An HDMI cable is necessary for full HD picture and sound quality. I don't have an AQUOUS TV, but the player works just fine.I truly appreciated the capabilty of the player while watching Avatar, which may be cliche, but I really did! However, when I bought Whip It! on blu-ray, the player wouldn't play, and it would freeze. I tried playing it a few more times, and again the sam...

Worst BluRay player on the market

I have had this player since December 2009 and have had nothing but problems. It will take minutes to load a disc, freeze in the middle of a movie and never start again, and the only way to do anything is to unplug it. On some discs, it will play the previews and then never get to the menu screen (it will freeze right before the menu screen). Or, sometimes, it will make it to the menu screen, but freeze on it and we will have to unplug it. I have downloaded every update Sharp has put out there f...

Slow but reliable

So let's face the facts. The player is a little on the slow side. It takes some time to turn on, some lengthy moment to load the disc and start the movie. However there is an upside to this machine. The picture quality is flawless. The player itself doesn't look bad. The design is actually quite nice. Good bargain at the price it is offered now.

Decent player, if you learn its secrets

This is my first Bluray player, and I got it because I have an AQUOS display. I ignored a cryptic error message for several weeks until I realized that I was watching 480p even on Bluray discs.Secret #1: There is a setup sequence where you have to hold down one of the buttons on the remote for two seconds in order to tell it to display at a high resolution. I did not expect to have to do this when I have an AQUOS display. They should recognize each other, right? The setting appears to be "st...
