Well worth the money.
Seagate 1TB is my first external portable drive purchase. It is MacBook compatible with the Time Machine. No noise, works wonderfully and I can even shut it off to my specifications. Saved all my pictures, as I am doing more writing these days. Takes a great load off of my mind. It's price was great considering its 1TB! Oh, one draw back Hawaii has no "Walmart store drop". Yet with the shipping cost it was a great buy and arrived quickly.(hide full review)

Excellent backup drive
Quite honestly, I had bought my (first) Seagate because it was on sale. I had heard that Western Digital was the name brand to buy from a friend who has one, but even some of the best software can be the most underrated ones. Great price, great device
This is a great device at an awesome price. Plug and play for easy installation. Has stayed fairly cool with continual use even without an internal fan. Small, flat design for less clutter with a sleek look. Quick, impressive transfer rates. Great for back up
I'm in design school so I have a lot of work to back up and this drive works great. Completely compatible with both my macs, just plugged it in and turned on time machine. What's great about it: easy to use, good value What's not so great: bigger than I expected I would recommend this to a friend!

nice & easy
this external harddrive to awesome. I have Windows XP and I just plugged it in and started copying files in seconds. I didn't need to load anything it just works. what more could you ask for?

This is not the GO drive, but the Desktop version
Seagate makes two small external USB drives, the GO drive and a "Desktop" version. The GO drives are the only ones that can dock in the Seagate dock and don't require an external power source. That's not what's offered here. This is the Desktop version which does require a power source and can't dock.Also, despite what other reviewers have said, Seagate DOES indeed make a 1TB external GO drive, if that's what you really want. Excellent
I usually by my own internal drives and then install them into an external case so I have the flexibility to install them in a computer internally later if I like. But after a recent hardware failure of a raid 10 none the less i decided to purchase this unit as a secondary backup device. It works great. I plugged it in, connected the USB to the computer and instamagically it just works. It was recognized in an instant and up and running. That's what I like and expect of hardware. Good job Seagat...

Stay far far away, Major flaw with Seagate Expansion series.

Amazon seems to slap them all together ignoring the drive sizes and you can't do that with hard drives. I'm a Seagate man. All my hard drives/externals are Seagate or Hitachi...keep that in mind.I purchased the drive in June of 2010, it was in it's death bed by August of 2010....
