Solid unit. Easy setup. Great sound.

What's great about it: Sound What's not so great: Nothing I've purchased HK's since 1985, when I used to sell Hi-Fi gear. HK has always emphasized sound quality and this unit lives up to their reputation. I only upgraded from my old HK because I needed HDMI connections to cut down on the cable clutter. My last AVR-30 is still running and is now relegated to my rec room. So is my old stereo HK 795i. I was amazed by the ease of speaker setup and the automatic sensing of level, speaker size and E...

This really is one of the best buys you can make for a mid-range receiver these days.It does not compare to some of the more expensive and powerful receivers out there but for what you pay here you are getting amazing value.Connectivity:~~~~~~~~~~~~~This is one of the most important feature for a lot of people so I'll start here:The receiver has 4Xhdmi inputs which is very impressive for a $400 receiver, it also boasts 6 RCA inputs, 2 optical inputs, one coaxial input, an rgb component input and...

This baby rocks. Hooked it to 2 pairs of Sony SS-F6000 in front and surround positions and a Sony SS-CN5000 in the center and now I'm looking forward to get evicted from my apartment complex ;) Sweet natural Harman response and super clean looks. The only missing feature is a tape2 monitor section for external EQ but I guess that's asking for a 2 decades return in time. But as long as you have analog inputs you can always overdose yourself with those nice altered frequency responses anyway, just...

i have tried several surround sound receivers and ended up with a harman kardon avr247 and it sounded great. was way better than the denon and yamaha that i tried. the sound was amazing. it was time for an upgrade and of course i had to have a harman. went with the avr1650 and couldnt be happier. im using all polk speakers and the polk 10" powered sub and its just like being in a movie theatre. my room is 15x25 and it is awesome

"This AV has the worst remote and OSD software i ever encountered ! I've dealt with all kind AV's but this one is exceptional in terms of complicity ! The OSD only appears on my monitor when its on TV or Bridge source! HDMI source doesn't appear so each time i want to go to the setting i have to change the source to TV or Bridge! Also, I can't use any buttons on the remote except for the volume! In addition, the design of the remote is not friendly at all! buttons are small the layout of the but...

I had trouble with the unit from the get go. First the remote would not bring up the OSD, then it would only turn the unit on and off in radio mode, which I rarely use. Also you had to sometimes hit the "AVR" button on the remote to remind it that it was controlling itself even though there was no other programmed devices on it.The sound reproduction was great but after testing my devices connections and playing the following happened. After testing the Wii which is connected to the TV and then ...

My old Sony surround amp did not successfully survive the move to the new house. Since I had a Harman Kardon stereo amp I decided to buy this amp for the surround sound system in my new media room. I am not disappointed. The entire system was very easy to hook up to my new 3-D plasma TV. Four HDMI inputs were just right for all of my components. The remote is clear and easy to use. The sound from my Bose speakers is crisp, clear and most of the time too loud for my wife. Bass thru the pow...

The bottom line is if your AVR gives you the sound and music that you like. The HK AVR 1650 delivers. I have some classic TIME WINDOWS 1a and some bookshelf DCM speakers. I have been using a very old and heavy ONKYO receiver for a long time and needed a replacement AVR. This HK 1650 definitely is an improvement the only problem is that if you start using cheaper speakers like the BIC center channel for $ 40 bucks or the BIC 8inch subwoofer for $ 90 bucks they will not do well with my current...

when i set up my home theatre 5.1 system, first i bought Denon AV receiver, it was ok for playing music and listening to the radio, but frustrated me when play a movie, i can not found any strong bass, not shaking me at all. So I return Denon to bestbuy, and order Harman Kardon here, Amazon for $399, AVR-1650, 95W/channel. When I receive it and put it into my AV system and turn on TV, suddenly I felt shaked by it! then i played <mumy> <transformer>.... I love the bass, the punch, the wave, ...

My home system already had a receiver, just not Harmon Kardon sound quality, and just 2 HDMI ports [quite old as technology goes]. Speaker system is a simple 5.1 - 5 speaker with sub woofer.Installation was easy for me. I unplugged old and took note of where all the cables went, and just re-plugged. I had an HDMI port extender, which I tossed as this receiver has 4 vs my old 2.Sound is impressive to say the least.Inputs: 4 HDMI to take care of all the sources. In my case - TWC DVR cable box,...
