Tired of Home Theater

Not being much of a Movie watcher, as in almost never...I replaced a Sony Super Complicated Home Theater Set-up with this Receiver...No more Flashing menus...Surround Garbage....user manual an inch thick...just Excellent 2-channel Stereo Sound...plus with the Phono input, I can listen to some of my Old Vinyl again. Very pleased with the Quality and Price plus the features of this unit....If you just require Excellent 2 channel Audio w/o all the Bells & whistles, this would be a Great choice IMO...

Not What I Was Expecting

I bought this receiver to replace my vintage 1978 Luxman L-30 integrated amp. This HK3390 was meant to be a stop gap between my old Luxman and the system I really want, as I don't have the money for that at the moment. I gave the Harman/Kardon over a month of listening and break-in time with a multitude of genres before I decided to write this review. I am running an older Sony CDP-313 CD player and the HK3390 through a pair of Mission M71i speakers. I'll be using the Led Zeppelin BBC Session CD...

Quality Stereo Receiver

I bought this receiver for the bedroom. Pros: good FM stereo separation, excellent CD sound , drives my old speakers easily, sleep timer is a nice feature also. Cons: none really for this price - very satisfied.

Harman Kardon HK 3390

Generally a great unit. Good value. Easy to use controls and remote. A few minor issues which include 1) no loudness tone control, and 2) the feet are flimsy, one broke off when siliding the unit to plug in the cables.

Great purchase

Absolutely delighted with my recent purchase of HK 3390. Running to a pair of Polk RTiA3's speakers and hooked up to a Yamaha C600 CD changer. Total install time from opening the boxes to set up less than 30 minutes. The sound is just incredible. Can plug my ipod directly into the C600. Easy! I now have complete access to all my music in one great location.. Great support and help from Crutchfiels with advice. Many thanks

Outstanding 2-Channel Receiver

This receiver has everything I want and nothing I don't. Sounds great powering my old Sansui 12-inch speakers. Easy to use, inputs for CD/tape decks/video, etc. You can run an MP3 player through the front panel video/audio jacks and it also has a output jack for a subwoofer (should you be so inclined). Yes, you'll need an external antenna for decent FM reception but that's true of any receiver. If you want a home theater surround-sound system, this is not for you. But if you want excellent...

Crisp, Clear Sound--no frills...

I was looking to replace a Denon receiver for CD and turntable stereo system, and didn't necessarily need all the digital hook-ups and surround-sound for TV, etc. The HK-3390 delivers great sound thru my Bose 201V bookshelf speakers--crisp and clean; the bass isn't booming (sub-woofers can be hooked up if you need to FEEL your bass), but the clarity and separation is amazing, and provides accurate renderings of the full scale from high to low. Vinyl LPs sound ALIVE thru this receiver--i was he...

Best Bang For the Buck

I run two sets of speakers off this excellent receiver, 3-ways in my studio, and 2-ways in my living room. When I discovered that the volume control was not continuous but in 80 steps, I worried it would not be fine enough in the zone I would be using, but it is indeed fine enough for my ears. Those who like bells and whistle and green or blue lights, all large enough to read in the dark, may dislike the small unlit control buttons on the receiver. However, if you are going to watch a screen, you ...

Exactly What I Was Looking For

I was looking for a receiver to play my ipod through my great old pair of Bose 501 speakers. I have purchased Harmon Kardon before and have always been impressed with their philosophy of high current output over high watt numbers that can be deceiving. This receiver does not have a lot of bells and whistles, but it has everything I want, and it plays my music with plenty of power. The remote control is larger than most but has a very intuitive design. The unit itself is simple and very elega...

Very Nice Stereo Receiver

Yes, there are still some stereo receivers out there and thankfully Harmon Kardon makes them. Not only does the HK3390 perform very well it also is about the only option for a little color (two tone front, bottom dark silver) as opposed to the "sea of blackness" that is out there from ALL the other companies. Do they think black is the only color America wants anymore? The only slight drawback to this receiver is the function labels on the receiver are very small and hard to read without staring...
