Terrific Blu-Ray

I bought 3 Blu-Ray discs immediately and and was blown away by the quality of the picture and the sound. Additionally, the picture clarity of my regular DVDs is about 25% better than with my old machine. The one drawback to this machine is the time it takes to load, not only at the beginning of the disc, but also right after that as it is searching for the menu. Otherwise, I am I am thrilled with it and thank my Crutchfield advisor for recommending it.

Great Blu-Ray Player for a decent price but needs more hookup options

Not a bad Blu-Ray player for the most part but not a great one either... I say that for several reasons. Although this model does include a built in decoder for Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby TrueHD, there is no multichannel 5.1 or 7.1 analog output. If you have a "5.1 ready" receiver with no HDMI input, then this model is not for you. It will not work. The new state of the art formats are broken down into LPCM 2 channel audio for delivery over an HDMI...

Blu-Ray plus - DVD minus

I have had this Samsung since June. I am extremely pleased with it's performance - but with reservations. The great big plusses: plays Blu disks beautifully and the picture and sound from them is spectacular. The great big minus - it upconverts regular DVD's poorly. I own a Toshiba A-20 HD- DVD player and this Samsung is better than the Toshiba in both picture and sound - especially sound while playing Blu-Ray disks. This is mostly because the Samsung handles DT...

decent standalone but PS3 much better

This review is from: Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics) I decided to get this unit while my PS3 was being serviced due to a Dead Blu drive. I like the styling of the unit it looks sleek in my entertainment center. compared to my 80 GB PS3 its much quieter. regular DVD playback is a joke compared to my OPPO DV 980H. same for MP3 and CD playback, dont buy this unit for anything more than a blu player. the remote is horrid. thank god for my universal remote. v...

samsung 1500

Can somebody tell me where the resume play button the remote is??? I pushed stop once on the BD Matrix and than pressed play. Guess what ? It goes back to the beginning each time . The Tosh HD-DVD had this problem in the beginning. Two firm ware updates fifixed this. I have the 2.1 software for this unit but this does nothing for that problem. So once again ,Where is the Resume play button??? Thanks.

Slightly disappointed

I have purchased a Samsung Wide Screen Monitor for My computer, and was extremely happy with it. When I decided to update my system, I Bought a 26" widescreen TV, and this BluRay Player. The optical output of the TV interfaces perfectly with My Dolby amplifier, and gives 5.1 sound with no problems on Digital TV content, But when I play the bluRay disc, it doesn't. Assuming that the disc has a newer format Dolby signal, and my older amplifier doesn't support it, I have no problem with that, But a...

Works Fine

This was my first Blu-Ray player, and it works well for me. Based on the reviews I read prior to purchasing, I was ready for the longer load times (compared to a regular DVD player) Pros: Easy to set up, USB connection on the back so firmware can be updated with a flash drive, slim- fits easily in any cabinet/shelf, remote works with other Samsung products (like DLP TV), can connect to internet for BD Live disc features Cons: Front display is dim, annoying Bonus View message does not disappea...

BDP-1500 is Great

Great player. Easy to set-up. Blu-rays look great on my Samsung TV with this player. Quick load times (< 20 seconds). Only concern is you cannot access the main DVD menu once a DVD is playing to actually make system changes to the DVD. Crutchfield shipped fast and emailed me information on common blu-ray set-up problems. Overall, extremely satisfied with product and company.

First rate bluray dvd player

There is a number of audio outs. For instance I run an HDMI cable from my Samsung 1500 to my seven channel preamp and HDMI from the preamp to the TV. It's also possible to run digital optical audio cable (toslink) as well as other options. There are no quality differences between coaxial digital and fiber optic. The BD-p1500's audio out ports are standard for the current crop of bluray players. If your TV or amp does not provide compatible ports it's not the players fault. Other bra...
