Be Careful Out There (Hill Street Blues)

As the line in the old TV show went, might be appropriate for ACT. I am not using a CRM of any sort relying on Outlook and an Excel spreadsheet. I have looked at a lot of CRM software and for the money I am of the opinion ACT is the best. However, I downloaded their 30 day free trial to try before buying and after doing my review I have to say I was quite impressed. Well I shut the program down and opened Outlook to check on my emails to find that I can't send or receive emails now. What's ...

Act! Works Well. Works as advertized.

I used Act! Version 1 over 20 years ago and it worked well. Switched to Goldmine version 4.0 and then version 5.7 about 10 years ago hoping it would have better synchronization with other users, and because it easily imported Act Databases. Became disatisfied with difficulty in customizing Goldmine. Then Goldmine abandoned support for single users. Stayed with Goldmine longer than I wanted because it was difficult to export 10 years of client data to another program because of Goldmine's complic...

ACT! 2010 may finally get it right

I would like to tell you about my experiences with ACT! but also provide some additional information about this program since there seems to be a lot of MIS-Information flying around. I do not work for this company and am not affiliated with Sage in any way. I am just a user. I have written database applications in the past.I have been an ACT! 3.0 and then ACT! 6.0 version(s) user for a number of years. When I tried to upgrade to ACT!2006 there were some problems. I decided not to u...

I read the reviews on Amazon but bought Act 2010 anyway...

The promise of what is offered is wonderful but the features don't work. Here are some things I couldn't do and some observations. Couldn't register ownership key online, had to do it over phone. Couldn't import Act 6 database. I spent a several hours trying then spent 2 1/2 more hours on the phone with tech support. At the end of this time, tech support said I needed to hire an Act consultant because they no longer support Act 6 and the database must be corrupt. But, my Act 6 works fine. So I d...

Won't print any envelope except a #10

I had Act 6 for years and loved it. I had to upgrade to 2010 to be compatable with new Windows software and I have had hours of problems trying to print 5x7 envelopes. After spending hours and hours and hundreds of $$ with a certified consultant, he managede to talk to the high end tech support in the US who said "it was a known problem". They gave the consultant a fix for the lousy template. It worked on my old printer for a while. Then I got a new printer and now it won't print envelopes on my...

No Querry!

I'm leaving ACT for good, hello [...]! I'm SO looking forward to THIS move!!!I don't care if it's 3x the price and I have to "pay as I go", I need functionality! This new version of ACT is atrocious if for no other reason (and there are plenty) than it can't even run a query! What good is a database if you can't run a multi-field query? "Lookup By Example" as they call it. You know, when you want to find a 1. Distributor, that is 2. a Current customer, in 3. Denver. I have to look up...

Low Class ACT

I have been using the ACT software since 1998 and upgraded often. I recently upgraded to the new 2010 version and I am so very dissapointed. I am a busy guy in sales and in today's business worl, your blackberry is your life. You would think that ACT would have a better merging software than 1-2-3 Syncronize to do it. Not only does ACT not have their act together but they in no way have their finger on the pulse of today's top salespeople and what we need in our aresenal of business software. Th...

Worst Act! ever

I recently purchased the new ACT! 2010 edition with high hopes that this would be a great new upgrade from previous editions. I have been an early adopter of ACT, having first used the product in 1987 and have used subsequent versions since. I stopped using ACT when they wouldn't run on Vista when Vista first came out. At the time, I was surprised that a company like Sage would not have properly planned for the launch of Vista to at least have a product that would work with it.Fast f...

Disappointed in new version

We recently upgraded from ACT 2006 to ACT 2010. I NEVER had to call tech support on the old version and on the new and improved version I have had to call 3x, they finally gave me an ACThotfix link and I still get the same error message that the new contact is no longer listed. Worst upgrade ever...

Outlook Works Fine

I have installed ACT! 2010 on my laptop which has Outlook 2007 and did not have any problems sending or receiving emails in Outlook after the installation. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am an ACT! Certified Consultant. However, I did not do anything except run the installation file which uninstalled ACT! 2009 from the laptop and installed ACT! 2010. My database updated with no problem and Outlook continued to work with no problem. My clients who have installed ACT! ...
