Don't Forget the Micon ADAPTER and Extension Micon Cable

Not Shoot ready! Fantastic Lavalier but we got in a bind when we found out that the lavalier isn't shoot ready. You need to buy the MICON ADAPTER (we used the Micon 2 for consumer camera) and the Micon Extension Cable. We found the Micon extension cable a MUST as the cable it comes with barely extends a couple feet from the camera (which means it is a face and shoulders tight shot) but with the extension cable you can comfortably go 10 feet from the camera. That is another $20 for the adapter an...

Great Quality Audio

These guys have a great sound! I purchased a cheaper option and it had a bit of a background hum... not these, plus, they include a great rugged case.

Great for the price, but not crisp

These are nice little lavs, but the sounds is not as crisp as I'd prefer. I't's a bit muted. They are well made though and the kevlar cable really reduces rustling sounds. For the price they do really well and with a little post they'll sound great.

Good Mic

I have used this mic for several recordings. The sound is clean and crisp. Compared to other microphones I have used it has a lot more volume going into the recording device.

Very good quality mic, requires power to go directly to 3.5MM connector on a digital camera

This mic is designed to be use with a wireless system or to connect to a powered source such as a digital recorder. It does NOT work directly if connected to a 3.5mm port on a digital camera or pro-sumer camcorder such as my Canon Vixia. I ended up using the XLR connector to record the lavalier to my Zoom H4N. that worked pretty well. I recommend that you purchase the XLR connector ( additional item ) and the 20 ft extended cable, as the default cable is meant to connect to a wireless unit w...

The mic is great, but Rode customer service is better

I bought this mic from a 3rd party seller on amazon. I believe Rode might have had a bad batch though as mine stopped working in like 2 days.I sent it off to Rode and they sent me a brand new one with no hassles whatsoever and they rushed it when I told them I had a job I needed it for. I didn't buy their extended warranty or anything, this was strictly off contacting them and asking them about it. I had to send them my receipt from Amazon but at that point I think it was already 6 m...

Too much hiss

This microphones required phantom power and that makes it give off too much hiss. I bought this to record an interview but when I listened to the audio there was a noticeable hissing. I have to turn down the volume on my h4n but there was still some hissing. This microphone is selling at a premium price but this is not a premium product. This should be sold for no more than $50. I will not ever purchase a mic that needs phantom power because that only introduces more hiss into the sound. A lapel...

Nice presentation, disappointing performance.

The kit itself is nicely done in terms of what is included and how it's packaged. The microphone's fit, adjustability, and audio performance, however, leave much to be desired - read my review on the HS1-P for complete details.
