Works Better than expected, credit to polycom's focus

Was not sure the concept would work well , but we needed a flexible phone conf system for our small office.Sound quality is brillant, and all the people on the office have synced there variety of phones ( it allows for mulitple phones to be pre-synced so you can just grab the unit anytime ) to the unit, so they can instantly make any call a a conference call.We have Iphone 3G / 3GS and two very basic motorola GSM phones, and they all work perfectly with the unit.

Nearly perfect

I recently started a new business venture working out of my home and have utilized my cell phone as my business phone, which works great because I'm able to always keep it with me, but it's less than adequate as an office phone. I purchased the Polycom Voicestation 500 to convert my cell phone to an office phone while at home and it works great. It's very easy and reliable to connect and disconnect via Bluetooth and, while connected, the quality of the full-duplex speakerphone is superb. Additio...

The Perfect SOHO Speakerphone Solution

If you work out of a small office or home office, you undoubtedly have found the need to use a speakerphone from time to time. Many high-end desk phones offer a decent speakerphone built in but they keep you tethered to your desk, as you need to be right next to the phone for your callers to hear you clearly. You may also find yourself using a cell phone quite often, and the speakerphone capabilities of cell phones can be pretty lame. Although you can purchase a Bluetooth remote speaker for y...

Not nearly as good as a full sized polycom

I purchased the Polycom Voicestation 500 in the hopes that I would be able to have hands free calling in my home office. Having used the full sized polycom phones ( Polycom SoundStation2 ) I had high hopes that this could be my main phone for conference calls.Alas the sound pickup is simply not that good. Sitting 2 feet away speaking facing the phone I still get comments like "I can't quite hear you". The phone works better than say my iPhone speakerphone, but not nearly as well a...

How can you call Bluetooth using stack 1.1 Bluetooth?

I purchased the Polycom Voicestation 500 principally to "do" conference calls from my computer using Skype. I was delighted to know that I could use my smart phone as a back up for those circumstances when the internet connection via Skype was not adequate to support good conference calling. Imagine my surprise when my 2 year old smart phone, with Bluetooth stack 2.1 would not connect with the Voicestation 500... it would "pair" but not "connect". Apparently the Bluetooth stack in the Voicest...

Doesn't work with Android phones

We purchased this device with the intent of using it in our company conference room with the company phones. All the company phones are Motorola Droids. Come to find out after the purchase that these devices have a problem pairing with Android phones. As such, it's useless to us. I'm sure it's a great device if you aren't using it with Android phones, but that's a pretty big flaw in my opinion. I feel sorry for the IT guy who gets stuck supporting one of these when a visitor's phone won't pair w...

The good and the really bad.

I purchased this VoiceStation for a home office based on reviews. I had a Blackberry phone (Storm, which I hated) and because i had Verizon was holding out for an iPhone. Well, another 8 months until Verizon Wireless carries it, so I got myself a Droid X to replace the Blackberry Storm. As for the Storm, the VoiceStation worked well. It paired and connected quickly and it was easy to dial from the VoiceStation to place calls. You did not even need to plug this into a landline- ju...

Incredible Clarity and Sensitivity With ths Bluetooth Speakerphone

If you are looking for a speakerphone to use in an office or home office setting, this unit is the one to get without hesitation. The unit was purchased to use with cell phones using Bluetooth. The unit was paired to several cell phones in the office (Windows Mobile and Blackberries) and that process was pretty seemless. Using the phone is relatively straight forward. You can use your cell phone itself and also the keypad on the phone. As a bonus, the unit seemed to work with analog phone lines,...

Fantastic desktop or small room conference phone

At my last job, our conference room had this phone, and as a telecommuter, I got to enjoy being on the other end of the line from this phone quite a bit. The company was a cheap start-up and so we often used Skype for conference calls with this unit plugged into a computer. The audio quality of this compared to the $100 Skype Polycoms is night and day--this wipes the floor of anything in that price range.I recently purchased this phone for my home office. I spend a lot of time on t...

Speaker makes hiss when unit is off

Didn't try out the Bluetooth features. Unit is similar to Polycom Voicestation 300 except for the additional Bluetooth capability. Speaker makes a low hiss when the unit is off. See my review for the Voicestation 300. Returned to Amazon.
