A great receiver, with one caution

This is a powerful, flexible, and easy to operate receiver, with one caution I will cover later. I purchased it to replace a still operating 5.1 receiver. Most of the receiver functions can be figured out without even referring to the well written manual. The learning remote was able operate all of my equipment with some reprogramming of its buttons after starting with the preprogrammed codes. The only thing the remote can't do is change the tone controls, but there are two tone control presets ...

Great Receiver. Ignore first reviewer's rating on the shipping.

Awesome receiver, lots of inputs. Simple and good autoconfiguration. It is able to convert all inputs to component. Don't use the HDMI but its there. I wish it had more than 3 S/PDIF ports but I'm an overly optical kinda person. Cheap receiver with all the features of higher priced ones. Lots of controls on front for the times when you've misplaced your remote (some people find this unattractive but personally like the buttons not covered up). No audio sync feature but it's not really a p...

awesome, just wonderful

I connected this receiver last week, used polk rm6900 speakers. This receiver is really nice, the auto setup does a very decent job, barely had to make any additional tweaks. The receiver manual is clear, the remote has a lot of buttons but well explained in the manual. Plus pioneer has good customer service too..atleast I got a good response for a few questions I had...and the price I bought at AMAZON was a steal! $375

Replacement of

This product was purchased to complete a High Definition implementation.I upgraded the DVD player, TV service and TV at the same time. I thought the HDMI interface was to provide both Video and Audio, it appears that I was mistaken. There were other products I didn't purchase because they claimed only HDMI passthrough functionality. It wasn't until I read the owners manual that I found out that this is also true for the 2 HDMI ports on this receiver. All HD components requir...

Mine was faulty and some other notes

Most annoying thing is that I hooked up through HDMI for 2 of my components however this receiver requires you too also hook audio connections as well if using the HDMI (I used optical). What the hell is the deal with that? At first I thought that maybe if you do that then the receiver wont have to be on to have sound output to your TV or something but nope no sound if the system is turned off as well. HDMI is supposed to make it more convenient, 1 cable etc... why is this necessary???????

HDMI video output non-operational

The new receiver arrived, and there was no HDMI video output, so it had to be taken to an authorized Pioneer service center to be repaired before it was useable. They replaced the HDMI circuit board and adjusted it, so it is working now.

Good features, but for one serious flaw ...

I bought this receiver to use as a preamp in my system. I based my decision on information as stated on the Pioneer web site, and the attractive price compared to some of the other options I considered. This receiver does have a number of good features, but has one serious flaw. It will not display on screen status messages for daily operations, like volume and sound mode, unless you have a Pioneer display, and run another special cable from the receiver to the TV (As a side note, P...

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!

I bought this receiver for two reasons: it had 3 component inputs and the THX rating.First, I had to purchase a $20 3way component switch becuase the one in this reciever is junk. It has too much loss and my screen goes blank when I use it.Second, I never use the THX becuase it doesnt sound as good as the dolby settings. So basically it sucks and I would give it 0 stars if it were an option. Also, the customer service sucks too. They wanted me to send it in ...

DAC in this receiver is not the best chip.

I think this model is a high cost performance model.MCACC is covenient and has enough quality.BUT I don't want to buy this model, want an upper class model. Why?Because 7-channel DACs(digital to analog converters) in this modelis not the best ones.Upper class models utilize Burr-Brown(Texas Instruments)'s good DACs.If you want enough sound quality, you should buy upper class models.

? for Russell (New Orleans, LA)

Would you be willing to sell it? I have a pair of 1015s bi-amping 7 JBL E100s; that's 28 drivers in total (not including the two channel sub-woofer system). Sweetest system that I have ever put together. One of my audiophite buddies with a $15K system, could only look down at the floor as he walked out to the room. I'd be willing to take your "piece of junk" off your hands. Repost if your interested and I'll respond with an email address.
