Incredible sound, great picture

Let me start this by saying that I am not a tech geek, audiophile, or anything like that. So, if you are looking for a review from a normal guy, here it is.......I completed installing my system 3 days ago now and have had a chance to play my iPod, use a PS3 for gaming, BlueRay and a regular DVD, and have watched standard HD cable with it. I also hooked up the full 7.1 system with fronts, rear and middle surround sound, a center channel, and a sub. For speakers, I have 2 sony towers up front, Kl...

Very Good AVR for Price Point

I am AV professional and have installed many of these in Various Systems. The True Zone "B" power,The Hdmi mixing and the the overall quality its a very impressive amp for the price. Yes there are many other better but you pay for it (spending 3x this on a AVR is nothing). You may need to read the Manual a bit and have some patience with hooking it up and use if you are not familiar with Home Theater. Worse comes to Worse , Hire a Pro. For anyone with Basic Skills/ Knowledge this is a great AVR...

Pioneer leads the pack.

First, if you're in the market for a reciever, the Pioneer's sound quality is second to none. Pioneer has really perfected a smooth but crisp balance of the highs, mids and lows. When you listen to a Pioneer, the frequencies are blended together sooo smoothy you really can get lost in the music. The VSX-30 is the entry level reciever of the Elite line from Pioneer. If you don't have monster speakers, the 80 watts per channel should be enough for most people. This reciever will pass the on screen...

Second Effort

I upgraded from a 15 year old Denon (105 watt). I shopped many sources for a new receiver, my budget was about $400.00. What drove my purchase was the addition of a HDMI flat screen TV. I picked a Yamaha, RX-V467. I only need the 5.1 scenario ( small room). I was very disappointed with this receiver. My speaker system is all high-end JBL, including their 12" sub-woofer. (Sounded great with the Denon.) The Yamaha didn't have enough oompf to drive the s-w. (after all the menu, sub-menu a...

Great mid-range receiver for the price

I spent several months researching receivers in the $500 range. This receiver is essentially the highly rated VSX 1020K with elite badging, advanced mcacc, 12v trigger, and a 2-year warranty instead of 1. Elite models are also rated with all channels driven vs the regular consumer line which is rated with 2 channels driven. For the small price increase this receiver is a better deal because of the extra warranty protection over the 1020K. I got it at Best Buy open box for $380 which is a steal.T...

BUYER BEWARE

BUYER BEWARE:Pioneer Elite receivers are not covered by the Pioneer factory warranty if purchased online. The receiver I got from HookedOnTronics had a defective HDMI input board, and I was responsible for the shipping cost to send the receiver back. The customer service I have experienced from HookedOnTronics has been extremely poor in my opinion. I would recommend reading the HookedOnTronics' company warranty and return policies before ordering.

Pioneer Elite VSX30

What a disappointment! I spent days trying to set it up, only to find out that I cannot get any sound out of the receiver no matter which speaker terminal I use or which audio or video equipment I connect to it. Even tuner would not make any sound.Terminal B always gives error "wrong speaker connection" and terminal A would go through Advanced MCACC setup with no trouble and I could hear test sound, but still I could not get audio when I play back!

GREAT RECEIVER

I have always been a long time fan of Pioneer, especially Pioneer Elite. I purchased this receiver to power my set of Klipsch Quintets and a Klipsch powered subwoofer. I couldn't be more happier! Only 80 W per channel, but it is a true 80 W's. I love the features and the video quality through use of the HDMI cables is outstanding as well as the Digital audio. I am using all Audioquest HDMI cables and everything is fantastic. Even better was the 399 price when I got it on sale :) Excellent receiv...

Great entry level Elite model

I bought this Pioneer VSX-30 after extensive research of many AVRs and their user feedbacks. It is entry level with Pioneer's Elite brand, so I decided to give it a try. I hooked this up with Energy Take Classic 5.1 speaker system and they sound fantastic. The setup was a breeze aided by auto acoustic speaker tuning feature. The only disappointment was the lack of "HDMI Pass through" feature. That means you will need to turn the AVR on if you are using HDMI connections to watch cable tv, i.e. HD...
