The Pioneer BDP-88FD is my dream come true. My first impression was that it was very good, but not mind blowing
My BDP-88FD came yesterday from Amazon. Watched a movie last night (Just Go With It) and spent some time this morning comparing the video quality to my Sony BDP S790 and the audio quality to my Onkyo C-7000R CD player. My first impression was that it was very good, but not mind blowing. The 88's video quality was about even with Sony, maybe a hair better, crisper. It was hard to tell to be truthful. Buy it! Spend the money!
If your scratching your dome and asking will this player out perform oppo 105 d! You bet! You get what u pay for! There is a new " big dog" in town! Spend the money!!!!! Warning: Oppo is more user friendly and offers a great zoom feature! The 88fd zoom is basically useless! The 88fd video and sound reproduction I find superior to any other blu Ray on the market! Have owned 3 oppos over the years! Major oppo fan! Not anymore!

Just get it!
I bought from a place in Cleveland. This player is fantastic, worth every penny. Pristine gorgeous picture, noticeable as soon as you pop a disk in. Loads fast. I'm sticking with 2k with this one for several years. Solid and satisfying build, the way things should be built.

Best player on the market
Bought this player to be paired with my Pioneer SC-89 and Sony XBR65-850C. Picture is amazing cannot tell 4K content from Netflix and the up conversations, but it really shines with the sound holy moly my Martin Logans never sounded so good and my 2 Rel subs sound more persist then ever before. Best player I have owned

Incredible audio!
After much shopping I chose this blue ray player mostly for its audio qualities. I use this player mostly for playing cd's and HD music. I am complete amazed at how good my cd's sound! The clarity and soundstage is incredible! This player has my CDs sounding as good as vinyl. I currently use the rca outputs for music playing. I'm not using the xlr outputs since my system does not currently have the ability to use them. I imagine the sound would be even better using the xlr!

Incredible Blu-ray Player..Perhaps the best ever.
The Blu-ray player is phenomenal, the best Blu-ray player I've ever owned in my life...incredible picture quality and build quality."AMA".. on the other hand is the major problem here..they packed this $1850 dollar item in a box that was way too large, and included no protection..no padding or anything.
