A superb value-priced Blu-ray player

What's great about it: Easy setup, excellent picture and DVD upconversion, flawless integration with an accompanying Panasonic HDTV What's not so great: No internal memory for BD-Live features, which may affect Blu-ray disc loading time Likely to be one of my easiest reviews, the DMP-BDT220 is an excellent Blu-ray player in the value-priced category. We bought this unit after doing extensive research on 2012's best players, and this one made the recommended and/or editor's choice lists for num...

A Great Blu Ray player for the money.

After reading some of the negative reviews, I'm really puzzled. If it was possible, I'd actually rate this unit at a 4.5. I'm not a High Tech guru, but in glancing at the instructions in the manual and setting the player up accordingly, then downloading and installing the firmware upgrade - I have had no problems at all. The WiFi successfully connected on the very first attempt. The unit communicated with my Panasonic plasma HDTV with no problems. The picture's great. Good sound. And not only do...

So far, so good.

A lot of reviews have talked about losing wi-fi after a while, and especially after firmware update.

It Only Took Panasonic Eight Months To Get The Wireless Issues Fixed

Just got firmware update 1.49 this past Sunday, and I can say with certainty that the wireless issues appear to be fixed permanently. I have been streaming Netflix since the update for hours and hours (sometimes watching as many as three or four movies in a row) and not once have I experienced a Netflix disconnect. Before this firmware update I could not make it more than two movies before I would experience a wireless disconnect, and would have to turn the machine off and then on to get wireles...

Very Nice Streaming Player

What's great about it: Compact size, fast connections What's not so great: initial network issues I did some research before buying this player. CNET thought it was one of the best values for 2012. When it initially arrived - I set it up, connected it to my home network (Verizon FiOS), and was ready to go. I started a movie from Netflix but about 10 minutes in to the movie the player lost connection. I did some research and found there were some problems other people reported with this unit wh...

Quirky, and WiFi Useless Ater a Month

Lots of cons and other quirks with the DMP-BDT220: 1. Ours ran pretty well with Netflix for about a month, then the WiFi totally died (no connectivity at all with Netflix or any other internet functions). Breaking power and performing a total reset did not help. The location didn't have ethernet cable wiring, so we eventually installed a MoCA (ethernet over coax) network and it's working again. However, the MoCA devices cost us as much as the player! 2. Sloooooowww to acquire an IP address on a ...

Excellent player

Contrary to all the bad reviews, I found this player easy to cofigure and easy to use. Vieralink works fine with no problem with Netflix. I had no problem to bitstream movies in AVI format from my home network. This player is worth every dollar I spent.

no 1080p and 5.1 audio when using non 3D or DVD

I'm convinced there is an issue with non 3D video watching when you are sending the audio using the 2nd HDMI port. Receiver (HDMI SUB) BluRay player (HDMI MAIN) TV And this happens; 1. 3D blu-ray DVD ----> 1080p/24hz, HD-MASTER 7.1 sound 2. blu-ray DVD ----> 1080i, HD-MASTER 7.1 sound. 3. Home screen ----> 1080i, FIRMWARE UPDATE NEEDED!!!

Playing DVDs on this Device

I have liked this Blu-ray Player overall, but the difficulty in returning to a root menu or submenu on a DVD is far too complicated and should be dealt with as soon as possible. There is a menu button on the remote control, so why doesn't it take you to the menu on both Blu-ray and DVD discs?!!
