Incredible Receiver

I purchased this receiver on March 1, 2005 from Crutchfield along with a Bose Acoustimas 16. This is one incredible combination of home theater merchandise. This receiver is my first Onkyo product and I dare say will not be the last. The receiver has so many options you can spend hours tweaking it to your exact liking. The remote control that comes with it is the best remote control I have ever received with any product I have ever purchased. In many regards it even bests my Sony RM AV3000 ...

Superb performance for a very reasonable price

This is my first serious A/V receiver. I own a Bose Lifestyle 12 (Series 1) since 97 and then upgraded to Lifestyle 12 Series 2 two and half years ago by paying a $500 upgrade fee in order to hook up with HDTV and Dolby 5.1. I didn't do enough research at that time. Now, I really regret that upgrade. This time, I did a rather careful research since the summer and finally decided to buy this one before the holidays. I was very very impressed with the range of functionalities this A/V r...

WOW ! ! !

I just purchased this Onkyo to replace a 6 year old Bose Lyfestyle system.Loved the Bose system, DVD movies sounded amazing, but music lacked a bit.I purchased the Bose AM16 Speaker system with this receiver and I have to say I am not sure I have EVER heard anything quite this Dynamic. The Bass and sheer power of the system literally shakes our home!I put in a THX DVD the other night to listen to that "THX" Logo intro that they use on DVD's and man my wife nearly jumped right out of ...

Onkyo Forever !!!

Well, not much to say about this, once more, masterpice of electronics. This is the 4th generation after the sales breaker of all Onkyos', the legendary Onkyo 676. Technically performs perfectly, every mode just handled beautifully, the crispiest sound you can perceive, even compared to the so called separates. The only drawback, as I'm an Onk enthusiast, is its design. The designer stepped down a few scales regarding aesthetics. The circle on the display is just terribly unappealing, and...

Excellent Receiver

An incredible receiver with a well deserved THX certification. I purchased mine in november 2004 and it never stops amazing me. I have a JBL 7.1 system with this baby and it sounds phenomenal. The THX surround EX mode is just awesome. I always use it when watching a DVD movie and the decoding is excellent. Those THX engineers...I highly recommend this receiver to anyone out there looking for an outstanding home theater experience and for the money i personally think there is no on...

I LOVE This Receiver!!!!! Onkyo has a true winner!!!!

I absolutely love this receiver!! Has amazing sound and everything that I need for a reasonable price. With 7 digital audio inputs and 2 digital outputs, you shouldn't have to worry about having enough hookup spots like on many cheaper receivers or those from a year or two ago. ALso has 3 compnent inputs and 1 output for your DVD or HDTV hookup. A great feature is the video upconversion. This allows you to plug in a yellow video cord from your VCR (or anything else), and upconvert the signal int...

Fantastic unit, great value

About 150 years ago, I use to be quite proficient with gadgets and new technology. Sadly, my brain hasn't kept up with today's leapfrogging pace. My personal requirements haven't made that necessary. So, it was with great delight that after doing some Internet research and comparisons, I settled on this unit. It was very easy to set up and if you happen to get confused, the Onkyo Web site has hookup diagrams. It's really a piece of cake. It's powering my:1. TV monitor sound

Great receiver until it failed

This was the heart of my audio-video system for two or three years and I was very happy with it when it was working. Unfortunately one day it simply stopped outputting sound. No power surge, no abuse, didn't even touch it -- it just failed. It still powers on, but won't give me any sound. Not even with headphones. From a bit of web searching it looks like this is a common problem. I don't know about all of Onkyo but this receiver model is certainly not reliable. Not recommended.

Great sounding receiver

I just bought this receiver used off of Craigslist for a very good price. It replaced my Denon 2802, which I've been somewhat unhappy with for the past 4 years due to distortion at high volumes. This Onkyo TX-SR702 blows the doors off my old Denon. Louder, with clean power all the way to the top. My speakers hit their excursion limits before I heard any audible distortion (I guess I need new, higher wattage speakers now). It is such an improvement that even my wife noticed.I hav...

A great receiver for your home theater

I have this receiver for more than 5 years now and never fails to amaze me every time I watch a movie or listen to my music. Even without the HDMI, getting the full use of digital-in (Coaxial and Optical Cable) of this receiver gives you great surround sound. If you are looking for an inexpensive receiver for your home theater or listening room. This is the one.- 5.1 surround is great with this receiver!I know that there are newer surround technology like Pro Logic IIz, DTS HD ...
