Great receiver

I've had the past couple of days to enjoy my new receiver. It's what anyone would expect from an Onkyo. One item to note regarding the price is that the msrp is actually 499 and not 549, so that decreases the overall savings. The price of 349 is still great for what you are getting. The RC260 is essentially a slightly stripped down version of the SR608 offering from Onkyo. It lacks three items, the VGA 15-pin input, Sirius input and THX Select2 certification. For those that don't require t...

They keep improving

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I was pleased to get a chance to review this product as I already have an Onkyo receiver to compare this to.My other receiver is a Onkyo TX-SR705. I paid significantly more for it. When I look down the amplifier spec sheets they look almost identical. To look at the units they look almost identical with the 260 being 2 inches shallower. To me connectivity is now more about HDMI with the others being secondary. The 705 has 3 r...

Mostly happy - takes some tinkering to get it right

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is my third receiver in 5 years. My previous two were Yamaha receivers, one at about this price point and one about $200 more. They will be my basis for comparison.PROSThe HUGE selling point to me on this receiver is the number of HDMI inputs and all of them are assignable through an on screen interface (as are the other inputs). My 50" Sony 1080p TV only had two HDMI inputs and I was having to use compone...

Lots of Bang for your Buck.

I want to start off by saying that i'm no audiophile and that i don't have super fantastic speakers so this review won't be commenting on the nuances of sound quality of this receiver. But lets face it, if you are only spending $350.00 on a receiver, you are looking for a good receiver, not one that is going to blow you out of the water. That being said...The Onkyo was delivered in one day (thanks Amazon Prime) and came well packaged. There was a serious dent in one side of the bo...

Very flexible receiver for a very good price (CAUTION)

The world of home theater has come a long way in the last few years. It wasn't too long ago that $350 would get you only a bare-bones receiver. Now it will get you a unit that will cover most needs of a medium-sized setup.Your basic 5.1 is easily covered, as long as you have a powered subwoofer. After that, there are two additional channels that may be put to work either as additional surrounds (your typical 7.1 configuration) or as height channels (new, but gaining popularity). ...

avoid unless you enjoy tedium and endless setup menus

this is a great receiver.if digging through setup menus is your idea of home entertainment.seriously, this thing requires far too much work to get it to work. for some reason, the engineers at Onkyo don't know what 'through,' as in 'passthrough' is supposed to mean. suffice it to say that your video signals will be molested, altered, and uglified in 'through' mode, resulting in cakey skin tones, ghosting/tracers in fast motion, and other nasty video artifacts. after tw...

No Second Zone

Bought this item primarily for the HDMI pass-through, the ability to route my 3d blu ray, and because we need a second zone. Although the literature says that there is a second zone, it neglects to say that the second zone ONLY works with analog sound, not digital. In today's world where the vast majority of sound output is via HDMI or optical connectors-- all digital -- this is less than helpful. Basically, it's caused us 3 weeks of headache trying to figure it out, and now, we'll incur a lot o...

Really disappointed in Onkyo

I purchased the Onkyo about 2 weeks ago from Amazon. Received it quickly as always. (Thanks Amazon) Basic set-up was generally pretty easy. More advanced set up took a bit more reading and some more time. Last night I was playing with the system and realized that I could access the Level Calibration. I decided to do the Speaker set-up with the microphone because I had an additional surround sound speaker that I wanted to add (finally got speaker wire to hook it up with). When I went to access ...

Onkyo A / V HT-RC 260 Receiver

Manual is not clear. It is written in english, but barely.Seems to have almost as many back and forths as the IRS code. The product seems to work well and is good value for the money.Trying to get the receiver set up for the audio part is difficult due to the manual.

overdone reciever

I Love ONKYO recievers, but this is way too involved. I'm talking a 70 page instruction manual for cryin out loud. never could get the zone 2 speakers too work. hours of set-up time. Sent it back and got the tsx308. I'm very happy with it.
