Bought this receiver from another vendor after Amazon ran out of stock. It's a very capable receiver and offers a lot of bang for your buck.My HT system consists of the following: a 46" LED-LCD Sony Bravia, a pair of Polk Audio TSi200 bookshelf speakers for the L/R channels, and a Polk Audio CS10 center channel speaker. I might add a subwoofer soon to make it a proper 3.1. Here are a few things i discovered on my own the hard way, that i would like to share with everybody:First of all, note that...

Onkyo TX-NR509 5.1 Channel Network A/V ReceiverI had a previous Onkyo Receiver and was very satisfied. I read this 2011 model on the manufactures web site, and started getting online prices. I placed my old receiver on CL, and sold it within an hour.Onkyo must have redesigned the internal circuitry, as this receiver is louder, crisper and more responsive. The USB input is great, no more burning CD's. In addition, the network connection is nice but I am not putting it to use at this writing.I cho...

I recently upgraded from an Onkyo HT530 receiver to the TX-NR509 for its HDMI and some of the fancy extras (networking, USB playback, etc.)Some thoughts on the receiver:HDMI issues from last gen of Onkyo receivers?----------------Doing a little research before buying, I was worried that the HDMI handshake issues that popped up for the TX-SR508 and TX-SR608 owners would be present here, but so far so good. Currently using it with a PS3, no issues so far. Will definitely update this if I come acro...

Sorry to be the first to have a bad review. Please note that I have ordered a replacement unit as I believe this specific unit to be bad (at least I hope so). The unit I recieved from Amazon was in great shape, seemed ok, until I tried to connect any HDMI 1.4a source to it. ALL HDMI 1.4a sources have random video and audio flicker. HDMI 1.3 sources work fine, no flicker whatsoever. I have tested three 1.4a sources including both Panasonic and Samsung 3D Blu-Ray players. The HDMI 1.4a sourc...

Overall, this is a good receiver and I have come to be very happy with it. However, there are some very important things that a prospective buyer needs to know about it first; I didn't know these things when I bought it but fortunately I was able to work around them. The receiver doesn't covert between video formats. This may be a standard thing with receivers, but it was unbeknownst to me when I bought it and then read about it with dismay in the manual. What this means is if you have, say, an ...

I bought this from another vendor when it was on sale. This receiver is a good receiver for the price, but you get what you pay for. It has great features which is why its such a big seller. These power some brand new Energy RC-10 speakers. Internet radio GUI is fairly plain and the search function does not retrieve the same results as when you search online through a PC. But other than that, it works great. USB works quite well, although once in awhile it won't play the next song. Easy fi...

After many years of good service from my old Yamaha receiver I decided to upgrade even though the old unit was working fine - it just didn't have support for the new technology (HDMI, Network streaming, etc.). Hating to spend a lot of money to replace something that was basically working I wanted to keep the replacement cost low yet still pick up as many features as I could - the Onkyo TX-NR509 hit the target. The sound quality is great, the setup and configuration were very simply (admittedly...

Last month I ordered the Onkyo TX-NR509 to use with my Comcast cable box and Panasonic Blu-ray player along with my older Sony LCD TV. Using all HDMI connections. Have a Harmony remote to simplify operation. After receiver arrived, I installed all physical connections with no problems. Ran setup for internet connections without any issues. Internet stations worked great. Powered up receiver and tried with cable box and Blu-ray player. No issues, everything worked beautifully. Then about 4 d...

I have an Onkyo TXNR-1008 in my main TV room and it needed to go in for repairs. It would constantly cycle through the different listening modes when powered on. I took it in for service and the person told me it would be 3-5 weeks before they could even look at it. I didn't have any choice but to leave it. I was considering purchasing another receiver for the bedroom so I immediately start looking for something I could purchase and put it in the main TV room until the 1008 was fixed. I honestly...

I have an older Onkyo receiver HTR640 which has been in use for ~8 years primarily to watch dvd's and listen to iPod. I bought this to power a new system in a condo we were remodeling. I bought wall mount speakers (Polk AudioPolk Audio RC85i 2-Way In-Wall Speakers (Pair, White) for the corners and Yamaha center channel speakerYamaha NS-IW760 6.5" 2-Way In-Wall Speaker System (White)), then hooked up the wiring using banana plugs. I plugged in an iPhone and played music from iTunes and it so...
