Pleased with performance

I purchased the Olympus TP-7 Telephone Recording Device to record phone interviews and have been pleased with it. I use it with an Olympus WS-320M. Interviews are typically under an hour and the earpiece fits comfortably for that duration. I have not worn it for longer than that. The recording quality has met my needs. There is some difference in volume however I transfer the files to my computer for transcription and am easily able to use the media player features to compensate for the differen...

Olympus Phone Recording Attachment

As a freelance writer, I often have need to record conversations both in person and over the phone. With my Olympus DS 40 and the TP7 Telephone Recording Device, I can easily record a conversation - even on my cell phone. When you are quoting people in print, it is important that you be able to accurately represent what was said. Just as important is the ability to hear inflections in the voice that indicate the interviewees feelings about the topic. The TP-7 makes it happen. The ...

Ear-bud Phone recorder is a great innovation

We are using an Olympus WAS-331M Digital Voice Recorder for interviews for an academic research project, and found that some interviews needed to be done by phone. At first I was surprised that Olympus' telephone recording device was an ear-bud instead of attaching to the phone cord. Then I realized what an improvement it was - you can use it on a cordless phone, a cell phone, or a call over a computer through the internet! The sound quality is great - or as good as your phone connection, anywa...

Perfectly adequate recording quality plus a bonus use

Length:: 1:43 MinsBottom line: the recording quality is certainly servicable. Play the video for a recording sample (using a TASCAM PR-10 Portable Digital Audio Recorder (Black)) and learn about an unadvertized use.BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've gotten from other reviewers and continue to return the favor as best as I can. If you thought this re...

works with pc sound card

After reading the comments about the mic only working with recorders that provide power to the mic, when I at first tried it with my pc as the recording device and it didn't work I thought that was that. On a whim I plugged it in using the included stereo adapter and then it worked great.edit: I've since found a better solution for recording from a phone to a pc which can be found if you google lrx-35 but you have to have a phone with a corded handset.

Good not great

This microphone seems well made, despite being inexpensive, and the sound quality is good. But there are disadvantages. First, you have to wear it in your ear as you talk. That's awkward for me. I can feel it between the phone and my ear and it gets in the way, sonically -- you don't hear as well with it in. Worse, it records my voice much more loudly than the person at the other end of the line. So, yes, it works, and yes, I can get used to it, but it's not an ideal solution.

Beware of loud static in your recordings from cellular interference!

I bought this product thinking it would answer my needs for recording interviews conducted by cell phone. However, after plugging the device into my Olympus digital voice recorder and doing a test run, I realized a major flaw. The recording was full of cell phone interference and was basically not listenable. It was the same sort of buzzing/static you often hear if your cell phone is in use near computer speakers. It appears that this device offers no shielding from this ...

Alternate choice (for landlines)

This Olympus mic is nice for cell phone applications, but is not the ideal product for desktop landlines. If you are looking for a way to connect your voice recorder to a landline then look at Radio Shacks adapter. Its on their website and it's part number is 430-2208. This RS product will connect directly to the phone jack at the wall and then to the voice recorder. It has a 3.5mm male plug (mono) that fits into the recording devices input. The 430-2208 is actually made for tape recording. Howe...

Kind of a crapshoot

The TP7 I recieved from Adorama Camera didn't function and Adorama didn't seem to care much, so good luck with this earpiece. You pays your money and you takes your chances.I had better luck just turning an "open air" earbud around to face into the phone's earpiece, holding it in place with a rubber band and getting completely buzz-free recording.
