Waste of money!

I love Nikon products but would never recommend this optic to someone. I could not get groups better than 6 inches at 100 yards and I had it on a Daniel Defense M4V7 Pro. I shot with iron sights better than this scope. at 18 power the scope is clear but the cross hairs take up too much room for precision shooting. Don't spent the money on this scope get a regular Prostaff.

DO NOT BUY!

This is quite possibly the worst scope i've ever had and would not wish anyone to have something that has been absolute junk.To start- When you look through the optic, the position your head in should not create a shift in the reticle on the target. Well it did.Second- The optics crosshairs literally jumped around. It does not hold a zeroThird- Sent in for repair. Came back 1 month later and was not even remotely looked at or fixed. Literally received the same scope without any repairs notated w...

by far the best scope I've had

Bought one on sale from cabellas, by far the best scope I've had. The clarity is excellent and I've had no problems with it losing zero on my 308 vepr.

Expensive but a very poor quality scope

Wanted to love this scope because I have many Nikon scope and I spent a little more than normal. But the quality is not there in this scope. First, I could not adjust the scope to sight-in a rifle and I have sighted in many rifles. Make necessary adjustments and the bullet is off the paper. After several boxes of ammo I gave up and sent the scope back to Nikon.. I wish I could get my money back, but....... Secondly, the turret caps are plastic and unusable especially on the tall turret. This is ...

What happened to the quality, Nikon?

Let me start by saying I love Nikon Prostaff scopes. I own 3. The 3-9x40 BDC, 3-9x40 Rimfire, and 4-12x40 BDC. I am very pleased with all of them. They are a tremendous value. The same is not true of the Prostaff 5 4.5-18x40 FFP.Finally, I thought I could have it all. A sub $500 FFP 4-18x scope with Nikon quality and warranty! Unfortunately, I was wrong. The quality of the build of this scope is terrible. There is just no other way to put it. I know a lot of people will be angry at this review. B...

On the right rifle, magnificent.

I put this on an M1a and this scope is nowshowing what it can do. Previously, this optic was mounted on a Ruger M77 Target and was not living up to its potential at all. On the M1 A it is a completely different story. I am able To get consistent hits at 500 yards. I feel I must strongly object to Carl's one star review. It just does not smell right. If Carl bought this rifle scope through Amazon, He would have no problem getting a complete refund. He does not say refund. Instead, he states he wi...

FIne scope for what it is meant for

I have one of these (purchased elsewhere-- sorry Amazon) on a .270WSM Browning X-Bolt. I've been happy with it. It has held zero just fine and the optics are quite satisfactory.IMHO Nikon does the Prostaff 5 line a disservice pitching the "Custom XR" and "Ballistic Match" systems for it. I think this scope is not well suited to all that fancy stuff. Capped turrets, BDC reticle.... better suited for hunting at 100-300yds within the point blank range of your chosen cartridge. If you want to be Ame...
