Good Value Optic
I am no expert on binoculars; however, these seem well made and the image is sharp. Finally, I have a pair that allows me to see the whole image with my glasses. My other pairs created a peep hole effect with glasses or a slight loss of clarity without glasses. The rotate and click stop eye cups are very nice, but I wish there were one or two more click adjustments. I do find the center focus adjustment a bit too easy to turn while the right eye focus is much firmer. Also, the large objective co...

Great value for money, well made
Nikon makes high-end roof-prism binoculars that cost $2,500 or more. Those are great for people who must use them day in and day out, in all kinds of weather and lighting, and demand nothing but the very highest optics. The 8x42 Monarch for a couple of hundred bucks gives you over 80% of the value for like 10% of the price. The construction is not as robust as the high end models. But if you are a casual user, and you take good care of them, and don't bang them up every day, and if you're not cr...

Second to none
I booked a trip to Alaska and was in the market for a binocular to get up close with the local wildlife. I chose Nikon because their glass is second to none and I guarantee you that I was not disappointed. The optics are crystal clear, even in low light conditions. It is without reservation that I would highly recommend the 8x42 Monarch for anyone looking to get up close and personal with nature under a variety of conditions.

Lives up to its reviews
I've had a pair of Nikon birding binoculars for almost twenty years. They've served me well, but optics have improved and the price has gone down for good binoculars, so I started researching before I bought a new pair. I was surprised at the unanimity: every article, magazine, review, and website seemed to recommend the Monarch 3's for anyone not ready to pay thousands for German binoculars. Now that I've had mine for a while, I can only agree. Super-sharp image, especially in low light; quick ...

Light and bright
The binoculars made the birds pop into view - and really easy to focus quickly. Even managed to see a moon of Jupiter, although I know that is not what they are designed for. Overall I am very happy with the compact design and lightness of the binoculars. The only downside is that they shipped with one of the plastic carriers for the strap snapped, so they must have some fragility.

These Binoculars are Great!
My wife and I ordered two pair of the Monarch 3 ATB as an anniversary present to each other. Before doing so I read a lot of reviews on line and these seemed to be the best buy for the money. I was not disappointed--the optics are bright and sharp and the magnification and field of view are perfect for bird watching. I also really liked the overall feel of these: they seem heavy when you take them out of the box but they are not at all so when you have them in the field: they are well-balanced, ...

Excellent all-round Binocular
Purchased 12 pairs of Monarch 3 Binoculars for use by school groups during field trips. These Binoculars are a great all round Binocular - good value for money and sturdy enough to stand up to use by school kids!

Good glass gives sharp focus!
I wanted small binoculars for bird watching and to enhance my distant vision when on outdoor excursions. These fit the ticket with a great, sharp focus, the ease of use, and the convenient case which fits on a belt.

Totally impressed!
I wanted a decent pair of binoculars to watch birds in my backyard. I had a very old pair and thought an upgrade was in order. As is my habit, I researched via the net and the Monarch 3 kept popping up as a good introductory solution. Now for my story: I had ordered the binoculars from*. A day later, I was still researching my purchase only to find out that Nikon was having a sale for $50.00 off! I immediately cancelled my order with *. I then started placing my order with Nikon only to find out...

Great Binos - Look No Further
Been looking for a good pair of binoculars for birding, outdoors & hiking that feel comfortable with glasses. They're waterproof, not very heavy, very clear bright quality lens. The one confusing thing about them is that they come with a diopter adjustment ring on the right eyepiece but it does not turn.I would have given them 5 stars, except the eye piece lens cap fits loose and doesn't stay on very well. This is minor since I don't have it hanging from my strap and only put it on when I store t...
