First Class Optics

These are truly wonderful binoculars and very comfortable to use. I wear glasses and the eye relief is very generous for binocs of this weight, power and size. Unless you have very large glasses that don't fit close you'll probably find the eye relief quite acceptable. They are ultra sharp and you never have to hunt for the focus. There is no slop at all in the mechanism. They are beautifully made and easy to hold. They are much lighter than my Swarovski roof prism binocs, although these are no...

The Best Birding Binoculars

These are the best binoculars for birding. The porro design is lightweight and easy to grip. The view is outstanding. They are especially good in low light conditions, offering a bright, crisp view with a wide field of view. They are definitely rainproof although I haven't tested the "fully waterproof" claim. I do not wear eyeglasses, but a fellow birder who does owns a pair and swears by them. These are the equal or better of roof prisms costiing 3x the price. If you have any doubts, read...

Nikon SE 10x42 SE

This review is from: Nikon Premier SE 10 x 42 Binocular with Wide Angle View (Electronics) These are considered the best view of any 10x made by many reviewers. See Better View Desired, etc. These are truly world class and compete well with the $1600 binoculars. I was surprised by the size, they are smaller and lighter than I imagined but the case is a bit large. You will find that these excel in incredible sharpness - across the rather wide field of view. Lower C...

These deserve a review

The Nikon 10x42 SE has been widely regarded by many bino experts as the reference standard for 10x binoculars since they were first produced in the late 90's - even for much more expensive high end German roof prism models. It is extraordinary that this remains the case more than a decade on. The many reviews attesting this, and praising both the 10x42's, and their smaller sibling - the 8x32 E's - as better than, or at least the equal of, the very best of roof prism models, was a major factor in...

So SHARP, I nearly cut myself....

These are an addition to its little brother (8x32 SE). What can I say, Nikon has done a marvelous job on this unit. Amazing control of contrast and color..in fact second to none.So sharp and clear, I love picking these up.Well done Nikon..again.

Excellent Glass!

I have used a full size porro prism binocular (swift audubon) for birding for the past 15 years. I wanted to upgrade optical quality and keep the feel of a porro prism design. Most of the alpha binoculars are roof prisms, and I just don't care for that style. The Nikon Premier SE far exceeds my expectations.Pros:-Optical quality is excellent. Crystal clear to the edge of view. Hands down the best optics I've used and light years beyond my old swifts.-Ergonomics. Grip and feel in the hand i...

Sharp and Bright!

I am not a 10x fan, however bought these to complement my collection of 7-8 powered binoculars. The image is razor sharp and very bright. The size and weight make these very comfortable to carry. Having had all the "alpha's" I have no hesitation in saying that the Nikon SE's excell them in every category excepting their lack of twist-up eye cups.

Light & sharp!

Such a pleasant change from the heavy 50-y-o Asahi Pentax 12x52 binoculars with fading lenses...These Nikon binoculars are lightweight and sharp, and my wife enjoys using them. I bought them to look more closely at the many birds on our bush block, and - although I sometimes think that perhaps I should have applied the funds to a longer Canon EF lens - I don't regret buying this Nikon for a moment. One thing that warrants improvement is the top lens cover: it is either in the way or doesn't stay ...
