When it works it's excellent, but there are some buggy issues that drive me crazy at times

I find the FVS336GV2 has trouble connecting to our branch office from time to time. I find using aggressive mode helps. Once it's established a connection with the remote location's FVS336GV2, then I'm fine. It will stay connected for long periods of time (weeks). If one should go down, usually it will re-establish the VPN connection when it comes back up. However, there's been several times when it will not establish the connection after I've done a reboot. The only way to get it back is ...

Netgear FVS336 to the rescue

I purchased this item to replace a Netgear FVS318 Firewall Router. The FVS318 is only rated at 5-7 Mbps, so I couln't realize the full potential of the 30 Mbps cable service I was paying for. And now that I've installed the FVS336, I get the full (and sometimes more) 30 Mbps service I'm paying for. The only thing I don't like about this router is the cable jacks are on the front, instead of on the back where they should be. That aside, I'm happy.

WAN to Lan max out at 35mbps

This replaces by Zywall USG20 and USG50 due to Zywall processing limit of around 22mbps. I have a 30 down and 6 up from my cable broadband and FVS336 can handle that without issue. Got upgraded to 50 down and 10 up recently and Netgear FVS336G cannot handle more than 36 with content filtering turn off and 35 with lag with content filtering ON. This is far from the 60 mbps WAN rated speed and was very disappointed. The FVS336G just past 60 days and can no longer return this equipment.

Excellent features. Easy to set-up, and seems stable - needs better documentation.

This Netgear router seems to be living up to the typical standard set by the company. Easy to set-up and configure with lots of features that a lot small businesses won't need - but that offer tons of flexibility if you need it. The unit itself is sturdy, with the typical heavy case and shielded cable jacks. The only real negative to the design is the external power brick - for a unit like this, spare an extra inch at the back and fit the converter in there... Minor complaint, but it would save...

In that awkwards space between consumer and corporate

This is definitely a "prosumer" model. It's a lot heftier and more configurable than the $50 router/firewall/wireless/NAS/alarm clock/coffee maker that you usually will see for home use.PROs:* Solid old-school Netgear reliability. (Blue metal, baby...)* Low power usage - my 24 port switch + modem + this are under 24w.* Remotely configurable* Failover WAN for when you really want/need it. (Is that really for your job, or do you just not want to be disconnected ...

Netgear FVS336GV2

I have been using this product couple of months without any issues. Setting up the VPN is so smooth and it drives the steps all the way to finish and establish the connections. I faced some issues after connecting through VPN client, lite version which doesn't bind the corresponding remote IP. But, It is working very well with shrew vpn client. You need to upgrade the firmware once you purchase this unit that many people recommended it. Rest looks perfect to me.

If you want VPN functionality, DO NOT BUY THIS.

I purchased this product for business use last week. I had experience with an older model, and thought that the newer version might have had some improvements. It did, BUT.The FVS336G v2 has lots of features, but the ones I wanted for my business did not work. Setting up an SSL VPN device is very easy in the Netgear interface. They have a very good step-by-step document online that shows you how to get it working. However the thing does not work. The problem? half the tim...

Works great, no IPv6 compatibility

I bought this router after having having throughput problems with a Cisco/Linksys router. This router is fast, able to keep stuffing packets through my 50Mbps cable modem connection all day long. I run a mix of wired and wireless and actually like that it doesn't have any 802.11 radios installed. That way I can locate it wherever is convenient and place my WiFi AP in a central location. Setup for different servers, port forwarding and rules is a little confusing if you're used to the Linksys way...

Favorite Small Business Home Router Ive Owned

Ive owned 2 cheaper models by Netgear and burned them out within 2 to 3 years each. Todays network usage with a family can put a huge strain on the router and although this is aimed at small business Im using it for home usage to keep up with Netflix, work to home vpn, itunes, online gaming, and all other network traffic. It takes it all and asks for more without breaking a sweat. Ive owned it over a year now and only had to restore it once after a hard power failure. Its worked like a gem, and ...
