Not that great.

I had to come back and lower my review of this unit. SSD caching brings the performance of the unit up to what you really want... Unfortunately because of the file system used, turning on SSD caching effectively disables thin LUN snapshots, even though this is an advertised feature. Netgear has no solution for this problem and instead relies upon Linux developers to do their fixes.

Easy to use interface. Poor performance.

Easy to use interface. Abysmal RAID 10 performance. I expected better read/write speeds from a 10G connection and 12 SATA drives but the performance in RAID 10 is about 100 MB/sec using iSCSI. Might as well just be gigabit. After a year of ownership this device has caused me more grief than anything else in our server room. You really can't have it do more than 1 thing at a time or you risk it locking up and dropping all your iSCSI connections. So pick now whether you're going to use this thing ...

A Slam-Dunk NAS Device For Admins

I have used a few different NAS products in the past for my home and business networks, but this Netgear Ready NAS really puts them all to shame. Granted, the cost of this Ready NAS 12 bay model was quite a bit higher than I had paid for any of those other models, but this is really a mile ahead when it comes to storage capacity, performance and reliability.Front and center with this model is the web-based software interface. It reminds me of some of the better UPS software interfaces I have use...

Powerful and high-capacity platform using slick ReadyNAS OS

I've spent a lot of time with Synology's line of SOHO products, but never got into their rackmount lines. Coming from an 8-bay RS1815+ to Netgear's 3000 series 2U NAS has required overcoming a bit of a learning curve, but I find myself liking the ReadyNAS UI / OS quite a bit. The performance of this unit is better in large file transfers over the wired gigabit network (only using a single gigabit port), which is noticeable when working with large disk image files and moving gigabytes of video an...
