Huge Potential, but early bugs (IPv6 Same Subnet Connectivity, Stack Master Fail Back) prevent its use in a modern network.

Netgear seems to have a bad rep with people used to working with high end equipment such as Cisco, HP, Brocade, etc. Ordering both the M4300-8X8F and M4300-52G-PoE+ to create a virtual stack, we ultimately had to return them due to bugs, but here is what we found: TL;DR is at the bottom.Pros:* Virtual Stack - this is a great feature that immensely reduces admin overhead, especially when your switch stack isn't in a central room. Such as spine/leaf topology.* Stack Fail ov...

No better bang for your buck in 10Gig.

You cannot beat this switch for the price. This thing is amazing. Configures just like other prosafe switches which is great. If you need a 10Gig backbone for your network, this is the switch.

Netgear Vocabulary - DNS (Do Not Stack)

Netgears idea of this switch is fantastic, unfortunately, these units sucks. We’ve had nothing but issues with these units stacked. Fail back issues, reboot failures and random GUI lockouts are super fun. They’re the types of features that make you wonder how you spent your time before it was consistently wasted troubleshooting with netgear tech support – so fun. They seem to think there’s no issues. We’ve RMA’d so many of these you’d think they’d get it by now. I sent them a bill for my time. I...

Setup Setup was fairly easy. In the beginning

SetupSetup was fairly easy. In the beginning, I had some issues connecting via the terminal port, but once I read the manual I discovered the switch that toggles between the serial and usb comm port. Connecting via the default ip and a front port was very easy. The default IP was as mentioned in the documentation.Once setup with basic network connectivity, VLANS were setup. I have reviewed previous network products and they seam to be a bit laggy from the web UI for ...

Very Impressive Switch!

First let me say that I received this device free as part of Netgear's Friends and Family program with no other compensation. This is an impressive switch, with a solid build quality and feature rich. Setup can be anywhere from extremely simple to very complex, depending upon what you want to do with it. Extremely simple with just plugging it into power and plugging devices into it and then complex with console access as well as web interface configuration for specific setups....

This is a very large pro grade switch for enterprise level applications. It is large and heavy and contains pretty much all the features you would find on competing switches from big companies like Cisco and Juniper. It contains 24 Power over Ethernet ports plus 4 combo fiber slots and 2 copper (with 2 fiber option) 10 Gb backbone linksOn the back are spare slots to insert redundant power supply and other optional modules for high reliability applications. The ...

Excellent switch

My first impression of the hardware itself was that the unit is very well put together; this is in contrast to cheaper networking equipment that I've worked with, where an 'enterprise-grade' router or switch has a flimsy, cheap build quality. That's not the case with this switch.Basic setup is as easy as it can be. If you just need basic switch functionality for a lot of machines, you can get away with not even accessing the management UI. For more advanced setups, there are tons of ...
