Easy to use and familiar
I recently got a Mac, and had to make the hard decision of choosing Microsoft Office or iWorks. After downloading the trial of both products and trying them out the decision was clear, and I purchased Office For Mac 2011. They both have a similar template chooser which starts with the product (I disabled this, since I like going straight to a new document), and they both serve their purpose (Word, Excel, PowerPoint like programs). Office for Mac 2011 works really well, I have not had any bugs...

Should you order the disk or download?
There has been enough written about using Microsoft's office apps versus Apple's on the iMac. I'll not rehash that here. I need every feature I can get my hands on so I checked Amazon today for the best price on Office 2011 for the Mac. Given that I only have one Mac in the house I was happy to see I could save a few bucks on the 1 license/1 mac version. Then I saw the download version available and wondered if I should do that or wait the two days for the disks. The item description ...

Beware early adopter stability issues and problems with product activation
This review is from: Office for Mac 2011 Home & Student -Family Pack (DVD-ROM) Office 2011 has a number of new, very useful features, and is a refinement over the previous edition of Office for Mac. The program is cleaner in appearance and much faster to load. There are two glaring issues, however, that would lead me to STRONGLY advise against purchase of the software at this time. First, there are widespread issues with product activation. Office 2011 comes with a new "activati...

Word is seriously unstable
This review is from: Office for Mac 2011 Home & Student -Family Pack (DVD-ROM) I bought this product in mid-June 2011 because I must use Office for compatibility with my law firm, clients and various federal agencies (I'm a lawyer). I was happy using Office 2004 for the Mac, but in view of Lion's upcoming release and Apple's rumored discontinuation of Rosetta support, I thought it was finally time to move on to a newer version. Well...it's been 30 days so far and I am debating u...

So glad I went back to MS Office
Downloaded in 38 minutes for me. MacBook Pro. Installed, including downloading/installing Office updates, up and running 20 minutes later. This 2011 Office will take some learning. Got fed up with IWorks. So many things you can't do in IWorks. Can't open IWorks document in Word. Not totally surprised. But I can transfer Word/Excel/PP docs from my old Mac.

Office for Mac works good
So far, the Office for Mac works well. I bought it for my wife's Mac Pro Air and downloaded from the site. The process was easy to follow and it downloaded easily. The Apple Store wanted 150.00 to do this. It was half that to do it myself. My wife is happy and that's a good thing.

Not as powerful or accessible as the PC version, and fails to take advantage of Mac specific features.
Okay, so this is a serious review of the features and functionality of this product. In order for this software to be successful (actually applicalble rules for any software, I think) these criteria need met;1) Does Office 11 on my Mac work almost seamlessly with documents created on my or another's PC in that systems Office software?2) does the software take advantage of the system coding and structure (in this case Mac OS X) to deliver functional, user friendly results?3) all...

Unstable! Beware!
This review is from: Office for Mac Home & Student 2011 - 1 Pack (DVD-ROM) I don't know what happened between the last version of Office (which I hate, but use) and this new version (which I also hate, and ended up deleting and going back to old version) -- it is completely unstable. This is not new to MS Office for Mac -- earlier versions (2004 etc) also crashed regularly, without saving your data, causing heartache and loss of data. That was generally fixed with MSO...

Wait for fixes
This review is from: Office for Mac 2011 Home & Student -Family Pack (DVD-ROM) How about the programs working.I just installed (and updated to 14.01) then started using Excel yesterday, had a project with lots of cutting and pasting of cell comments, it crashed and quit three times and then the last straw was my whole iMac(6months old all current OS updates) locked up which has never happened. Reverted back to 2008 and had no problems going forward. Did some research and s...

Excel is seriously broken
This review is from: Office for Mac 2011 Home & Student -Family Pack (DVD-ROM) I like the interface, a combination of the Window's ribon I hate, but have learned to deal with and the menus I know so well. I like the ribbon on this version more than the floating tool bars in Excel 2004. This is the good. However within moments of first opening Excel 2011 I went to see if the most annoying bug from Excel 2004 had been fixed. When you try editing a formula in a condit...
