Marantz NR1601 Slimline AV Receiver - Outstanding 5.1 (up to 7.1) Sound Quality! Perfect for Den/ Bedroom!

This review is from: Marantz NR1601 Audio Video Receiver (Black) (Electronics) Okay, I'm going to be totally subjective. This 4" Tall Marantz AV Receiver is the perfect Solution for use in my Den/ Bedroom (see pics above). It doesn't have every single feature of a $1500+ Receiver but still, for $500 bucks it has everything you need at the size you want (3D resolution, up to DTS-Master Audio, 4 HDMI inputs, etc.). I actually waited close to a year after the NR1501 was released...

Simplicity!

This review is from: Marantz NR1601 Audio Video Receiver (Black) (Electronics) Marantz NR1601.....This unit replaces my 4/5 year old, non-HDMI Denon 2106 A/V receiver. I bought it through ONECALL.com, which is an Amazon Marketplace buying option. This unit is my main HT receiver.I like simple setups.I am an audiophile on a budget.I don't want a receiver that comes with stuff (ethernet, wifi, millions of rca pre-outs, millions of oth...

worth the wait

This review is from: Marantz NR1601 Audio Video Receiver (Black) (Electronics) So finally this thing was released earlier this month. And by the gods, it does exactly what I had hoped it would do -- allow me to pair an optical input with an HDMI source. I can now run one of my computers seamlessly to my 62" DLP with full SPDIF audio! All thanks to this little guy.I haven't toyed very much with it yet, but I intend to expand this review as I do so. I only have the two...

Great Receiver for Limited Space

I needed a quality 7.1 receiver that would fit in a cabinet with less than 6" height. They are few and far between! At 4 1/16" height this one fit the bill. As a former dealer in quality audio and video equipment, I was familiar with Marantz reputation for quality design. This unit is solid throughout. I'm using the NR 1601 to drive a Definitive Technologies Mythos speaker system which uses self-powered subwoofers in the front towers. As a result, the 50 watt per channel X 7 output delivered goo...

Perfect sound and technology

I prefer my electronics to have a warmer sound of old. My stereo equipment is NAD, and for HT this small but powerful A/V receiver has it all. Don't let it's size fool you, as its 50 continous watts, not peak. Setup was easy, the audessey made the Difinitive Tech speaker system sound better than it ever has, so I didn't even try to tweak what it thought was best. The HDMI switching is flawless and even iPod music is reasonable. I have the Marantz BD7004 hooked to this an...

Just what I wanted for my speakers

This review is from: Marantz NR1601 Audio Video Receiver (Black) (Electronics) I got this Marantz receiver on Christmas Eve. I hooked it right away to replace a Yamaha that I had for five years. This receiver is hooked to a Bose Acoustimass 16 speakers. And I configured it as 5.1 even though I have the sixth speaker. I just felt lazy to lay the wiring to the sixth speaker as my house was already wired for 5.1.Since I bought the Bose speakers, I tired all ...

Very good choice.

This review is from: Marantz NR1601 Audio Video Receiver (Black) (Electronics) I always wanted to have a nice receiver, but also not really willing to expend more than necessary. I come from using a single Sony stereo with 2 basic small receivers, but always impressed when visited my friends who had Onkyo or Bose or Denon. Started looking for receivers reviews and also with own experience at Best Buy. I wanted something elegant but with good, outstanding sound...

What a great receiver!

Bought this open box and I absolutely love it. The sound is fantastic and has a much smaller height than the typical receiver. Major surround settings and supports a ton of different setup options. Setup was easy and drive my canton small home theater speakers with ease. Had some difficulties with sony 3d bluray and PS3. Had really bad flickering. Looks like it was having some difficulties with the hdcp handshake (no such issues with my xbox or my zunehd when hooked up...) The solution, tha...

Marantz NR1601

I was looking for an A/V receiver with a slim form factor for use in an apartment. On researching the market, the only options I found that suited my need for decent quality in a small package were the Marantz and the Sherwood R904 Netbox. I initially ordered the Sherwood and was generally happy with the unit, though I couldn't get it to sound right in my living room as there is no manual equalizer function that allows you to boost / attenuate certain frequencies. It sounded good with music, tho...

Great sound in small package!

This review is from: Marantz NR1601 Audio Video Receiver (Black) (Electronics) As I'll take this receiver abroad (I don't live in USA), size was an important factor in buying choices. There isn't any concurrent to this receiver from other manufacturers.I live in an apartment, and pure power is not very important to me as I will can not crank up the volume anyway. This receiver has 50W x 7 while other (which are much bigger) have about 80W x 7 to 120W x 7. Not a big d...
