I just upgraded my home theater system from a five year old HTIB. I picked up Orb Audio speakers (excellent little speakers, great price) and also the Marantz NR-1501.I tried out three receivers before settling on the NR-1501. I first looked at the Denon 1910. It definitely sounded great, but was too tall for the space in my entertainment center.I ended buying a Yamaha RX-V465 BL. I was disappointed with the clarity of the vocals during movies and TV, and even with adjustment the sound was v...

The Marantz NR1501 slim line model is only about 4" tall and really an excellent overall receiver. I bought this to replace a Sony STRG810. It was a toss up between a Denon, Yamaha or Marantz. The Sony STRG810 was a great receiver for movies but it was lacking sound quality in the music department (too much reverb). When comparing similar models, Yamaha was brighter then Denon, and Marantz was warmer then Denon, so I went with Marantz. I compared the Marantz NR1501 model to a Marantz SR6004 ...

av receiver in motorhome

Let me say this, my son recently advised me about talking to the Cruthfield people. Size in a 45 ft motor home is a problem for good surround sound gear. Then I found the Marantz unit and wow! Great reciever that has all the latest features for my 40 inch Samsung. The size at only 4 1/8th" tall made this happen. Had problems hooking up for the first time. I could not get osd on lcd. Crutchfield's tech support made me a customer for life. Thanks again to Josh! What a team! The rec...

Purchased this receiver after spending a considerable amount of time putting together a home theatre system. Listened many receivers and actually purchased a Harman Kardon 255 from Amazon. For the price the Marantz NR 1501 blew all of these away - it has a great feature set and works very reliably. My main criteria for home theatre was to listen to music and then movies second. Musically it is awesome with a warm detailed sound - the HK 255 sounded like listening to music in a metal pipe - ...

I mainly listen to 2ch stereo music, and wanted something small to easily fit into my smallish oak tv stand. I was trying to upgrade my 10 yr old Harman Kardon AV40, with something with a lower noise floor, warmer acoustics, and digital inputs (coax and optical) to interface to a Squeezebox Touch. I thought this modest Marantz might fit the bill.I've had the NR1501 for a few days now, and have tried tweaking pretty much all of the sounds settings (including using the auto cal mode via MRAC) to ...

I bought a Marantz receiver based on reviews and the fact that they market themselves as a "high end" audio company. My slimline receiver worked for about two and a half months and then I came home to fine the standby light flashing and no response to pushing the power button.I feel I bought a lemon and am sending the unit to the company to see if it can be fixed.I like the small size of this receiver but the speaker inputs are really tough to attach wires to (I am a dentist and used to working...

I'm replacing a Pioneer VSX-919ah that never really worked well for me. This marantz receiver has it beat in every respect. It's smaller, so it fits in my entertainment center. The auto setup identified specifically where each speaker cut off and set the crossover frequency individually. The result is that each speaker is used to it's fullest. On the Pioneer, you either picked "large" and got all bass, or you picked "small" and the sub-woofer did all the bass work. With this Marantz, the audio i...

Marantz NR1501

The small form factor is perfect for my particular setup in my small apartment where any little bit of space matters. It replaces a not-that-old Denon receiver that started acting up about 6 months after I purchased it. At 50W per channel, this unit isn't going to be the centerpiece of a real home theater setup, but for mine, it's perfect. Great picture via the HDMI output, great sound, easy setup. A feature that maybe not everyone will appreciate but that I liked...

This is a great receiver for its size. I only had about 6 inches of height in my cabinet so this was one of the few choices. At only 4.25 inches tall it fits with enough space for adequate air circulation. If you have more space, I think you can find better value for your money. This option was cheaper than new furniture in order to fit a standard 6" or larger receiver. There are inevitable compromises due to space, but the sound is much better than my old Sony that died after 10 years. The 50 wa...

Great piece of equipment

As the title says, its great! I don't need huge power and just want good quality and I got it. Great channel separation and dynamic range. Plenty of power for me in a room approx. 14 x 22 with cathedral ceilings and hardwood floors. When I received it I hooked it up to my new 46" HD Mitsubishi tv and have a center and 4 Klipsch surrounds with a 50 watt Polk sub; Nothing special but the sound is excellent. I put in "Master and Commander" Blu Ray and when the cannon balls started flying ...
